when do you get the oil changed on a 2010 Volkswagonjetta TDI?

Question 1
when do you get the oil changed on a 2010 Volkswagonjetta TDI?...  there are 3,800 miles on it

Answers
1)   casr is brand new/look in the manual - ken k

2)   I don't have a TDI but if you use synthetic you can change it every 5k or if it's just normal oil, then usually every 3k. Hope thats helpful - Jen

3)   See the big book in the glove box, that is called an owner's manual. Read it, and you find a plethora of information, including oil change intervals. Keep this in mind, it does take a special oil- and although it is synthetic, it is not the one for gas powered cars. - djaca70

4)   VW reccomends every 10K which is covered by warranty. VW mechanics reccomend every 5k. It does take special oil, and you WILL damage the engine if you use anything else. - Luis

5)   If it is set to "Longlife" setting its about 17,500 miles but you will get a dashboard warning. Ordinarily the service interval is 10,000 mls. - L G

6)   Every 10,000 miles is the US standard. In fact, your salesman/dealership should have told you specifically NOT to change the oil BEFORE 10,000 miles as VW uses a specific break in oil during the first fill.

Of course, this is all in your owner's manual too... - Richard R

7)   Make it 10000 miles & change the filter every time you change the oil - hkidkw60

Question 2
i luck my key in the car, how do i open 2009 passat car?...  i mistakely luck my key inside my passat car, 2009 model. please how can i open the door of the said car.

Answers
1)   iron bar - window - Queeny B

2)   Use a piece of long stiff plastic and slide it down the window till you hear the lock click. Good lock! - The Circus Bearded Lady

3)   Bar will not work, in modern cars, taking that You have got central locking and dead locking.
Use spare key, emegency services if You lucky and left window slightly open- use it.
O try VW forums. - Jakub

4)   if you can get hold of some wooden wedges like door stops or sumthing alike slip/knock these in the top of the door frame till you have enough gap so you can get a piece of stiff wire/metal coat hanger throught to the door handle pull it and it should unlock the door or if you can pull the pin to unlock it do that but this is ussally more difficult to get hold of. or would the electrice windows work? try and get the switch for the windows. good luck - Jason Still

5)   Call your VW dealer to see if they can come up with a key quickly - failing that you will have to break a window so choose the smallest side window - Timbo is here

6)   Where is your spare key ? You can try a roadside assistance if your a member. Forget the piece of wire etc as you will find the car is deadlocked. If you break a window at the back you will still not get the door open. The door locks are shrouded so you will not get a wire down to hook them open. The best you can do is smash a window adjacent to where the key is. If you have to break a window wear gloves and cover the area with parcel tape so glass does not get everywhere, use a sharp pointed object to break the window. - L G

Question 3
Regular Or Premium Gas Difference?...  i am looking to buy a 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T i was wondering it says premium fuel only! i was wanting to know what happens if you put regular in there. i have a friend that has a 2004 Subaru Forester and it calls for premium but he has never put premium always reg someone help me clear this up i dont want to ruin a very nice car. best answer goes to most informative... thanks in advance

Answers
1)   If the manufacturer says to put premium only, then I would follow their guidelines. They created the vehicle to run on that grade of gas. Doing so results in the best running scenario of the vehicle as well as the longest life out of the vehicle. The engine components are built to run on a cleaner fuel. If you decide to use lower grade, it may run okay for a long time, or it may start having problems right away. I doubt the car will run at its potentially, though, without premium. Lower grade gas, in general, can cause a lot of issues in cars. - d_monie3

2)   In reality, premium fuel doesn't help with performance. If it is recommended, then use premium fuel. If you use lower-octane fuel, you are risking your car's engine as it may detonate prematurely, which can blow your head gasket. - Ali K

3)   well premium has a higher octane rating. ( how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. When gas ignites early by compression rather than because of the spark from the spark plug, it causes knocking in the engine. Knocking can damage an engine, so it is not something you want to have happening) the engine is designed to run on premium so you will get more power and better fuel economy with premium, if you really want to run regular, which might cause your engine to feel "sluggish". i would pour a can of "sea foam" (about $9 at walmart) in the gas every now and then to help keep the engine clean but thats with any engine.
hope this helped. - Ethan

4)   Ethan is right on the money. - Boost Logic

5)   if it says premium, u put premium. if not, the performance of the car will drop. - z34

6)   Turbo means you run premium. If you put regular in there it will run like sludge because it's fuel mapping is for a higher octane gasoline. - Hank Scorpio

Question 4
Help with my Volkswagen Jetta-2005?...  I am having problems when I shift into 1st and 2nd gears, its an automatic and about 1 month ago is when I noticed the problem. It seems to kinda of choke a bit when shifting. Then once I am in 3rd gear, it's fine. Anyone have the same issue? Please help, I took it to a transmission place and they said nothing is wrong with it, what gives?

Answers
1)   you might want to try and have the transmission flushed and the filter changed it sounds like it is getting stopped up - David

2)   I am not familiar with your year Jetta but some automatic transmissions use vacuum or pressure inputs from the engine to determine when to shift. Some use fly-weight governors to determine when to shift from 1st to 2nd. If you want to know for sure I suggest your local Volkswagen dealership. Hope this helps,

Newton1Law - Newton1Law

3)   The problem is most likely due to the valve body in the transmission. Fluid change can help but the only transmission that vw makes with a filter is the DSG. You dont have to remove the transmission to replace the valve body so it should not cost so much in labor. You should take it to an expert or the dealer. - Luis

4)   Take it to the dealer, or a good transmission shop, sounds like a loose vacuum line, or a slipping transmission. - ???

5)   i replaced my spark plugs, did an oil change (with slick 50 on the side), and added just a small amount of transmission fluid. problem solved. mine is 2000 though. - Sam

Question 5
My polo goes 0-60 11.7 sec avg, its specs are 13 secs I had alot of weight in the car and NO MODS?!?...  How/why is this?

Answers
1)   Did you test it by hand? That almost always gets you a faster inaccurate time.

Were you going down a hill? Even a very small one will result in a faster time. - emiller1998

2)   Everything matters:
Lower pressure in tyres will give You better result- but only on paper
Smoother road, going downhill, lightweight driver or driving on cold day will ease acceleration.
Speedometer always shows more for example my Renault is always 5 mph
faster on the clock than speed cameras or gps device.
If car was well maintained, contains , say a gallon of 99 octane petrol and Your
gear shifting is really quick You could technically shave about 0.5 sec of specs
13 seconds. - Jakub

3)   there is a little thing in statistics we like to call "standard deviation". this means that not all cars are the same and deviate (or differ from the mean or 'average' by some degree either high or low. basically when they say 13 secs that means the average and not all cars are exactly the same and not all tasting conditions are the same. for most car manufacturers the tolerance for the SD is pretty small so they can make all of the parts almost identically with little variance so they will fit on any similar car. so i would say no your car is not special. standard deviation says so - Air-Cooled (o\ ! /o)

4)   It would be interesting to see what your time was if you had the equipment installed that road testers have when the figures are produced. - L G

5)   Your speedometer over reads.... Yes, it does. Try it again, and tell us what speed you are doing at the 13 second mark. THAT will be nearer 60mph. Most modern speedos over read by a small percentage, I have a 2006 Focus that displays 56 at 50. This has been verified by a traffic policeman! It was a random stop in a service station, and I was thanked for keeping the traffic slow through roadworks! I was showing 56... in a 50... I never even saw the Police car (Plain Clothes Traffic in Yorkshire, A1) in the queue... It was a nice surprise.

One question though? Were you watching the road whilst timing yourself? - Hairy Jim
