what is facebok.com is it reliable?

Question 1
what is facebok.com is it reliable?...

Answers
1)   Facebook.com is a social networking site and yes, it is reliable. The new privacy settings they have implemented should cover all your concerns. - Habibi

2)   You're kidding me, right? Gawd, you don't know what FB is?! AND YOU SPELLED IT WRONG??!!!

Wowwww.

It's pretty much a chatroom-type thing, what do you mean by 'reliable'? - That Weird Guy with Red Eyes

3)   it is the no 1 ranking social networking site - Satish

4)   It is a social networking website that requires/allows you to make a profile of yourself. For example: "Hi, my name is Mary. I love surfing and foreign languages. I can't wait for winter break!". You can also add friends, play games, join discussions, and post photos. One downside is that you can't delete your account once you sign up, so your information will be on the web forever. Employers check facebook profiles and they actually fire people if they see something on your facebook profile that they do not like. Also, once you post your photos and information on facebook, facebook legally has your permission to claim exclusive ownership over it. I don't like facebook. - Pam Beesly

5)   Holy @#$ dude you must be joking. FB is a leading social networking site like Orkut, My space, twitter etc.. - Odin

any suggestions?

Answers
1)   Intake, Headers, High Flow Catalytic Converter, Cat-Back Exhaust, Chip the ECU, you can do anyhthing depending on how much money you have to spend - Chris

2)   Go to VW Vortex.com and take a peek.

Vertical doors aren't cheap, but if they fit in your budget, have fun. - J....

3)   Performance wise and cat-back exhaust and a cold air intake would give you a nice boost.

Other: Possibly a bit bigger wheels, true HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights, tinted windows and tail lights. (if legal in your state)

This would make it look a lot nicer, give you quite a bit more power, and it would be a lot more enjoyable to drive. With HIDs at night, the tint for people shining into your mirrors and keeping it a lot cooler inside in the summer. - yahoo

Question 3
My VW polo timing belt snapped - I was doing 70mph. Is it worth getting the initial work done ($300)?...  It's a 1996 vw polo. When the belt went, the oil light came on and it just came to a stop. I didn't hear any clanking or nasty sounds. (The car just wouldn't start) Could there be internal damage? Help!

Answers
1)   You could have bent your valves and damaged your pistons. Those kind of engine are referred to as interference engines, meaning the valves will occupy the same space at one time, that the piston does another time. And when the timing belt gives, the entire valve train becomes immobile when it's supposed to move with the crankshaft and it's components. In a cylinder or two, a piston could have come in contact with a valve and possibly bent it, meaning you will definitely need new valves, possible head rebuild, and, if the impact was severe enough, you might have even punched a hole in a piston or two, meaning almost an entire teardown and rebuild is in order. Not trying to discourage you, but that is the worst case secnario. Won't really know what you need done till that head comes off. - The-Razors-Edge

2)   An immediate inspection is mandatory! First the valve cover and observation by rotation.then the cylinder head and observation by rotation. - tvl

3)   I really doubt that it is worth the repair cost unless you have a mechanic who will do the job on the cheap. You need the head skimming, a new belt kit, possibly several new valves and that is before you consider damage to a piston(s). Far better putting the £500 repair bill into another car. This time ensure you have proof of when the cam belt was changed :+) Good luck. - L G

4)   You might've been alright if you didn't try restarting the car.

There's no way a snapped belt will only be $300 to fix. - Richard R

2)   i like the jetta, good engine noise, ok fuel economy, but this car is a sedan not a fun car to drive, try getting a honda civic they have better fuel economy and tuned up versions - krnxalex

3)   Stick with the VW man but use the $17k to find a low mileage mk3 jetta or gti with the vr6 engine. Dump the rest into making sure that car never rusts and rebuild/replace anything that even looks partially worn. - Nick

Question 5
hey, does anyone know how to check transmission fluid on 2001 passat 1.8 its automatic. tnx.?...

Answers
1)   if its standard, you dont need to. If its automatic, look in your manual and it should say where its located under the hood. if you cant figure it out take it to a mechanic - Jessica L

2)   The 1.8T uses a sealed tiptronic transmission. No way to check the level. According to VW there is no need to check the fluid level unless you have a leak. If the transmission fluid is replaced as outlined in your service manual, that's all that needs to be done. - pbleek

3)   there is no way to check as it is in a sealed unit, the oil must be changed every 40k miles usualy you have to go to a main dealer as some special tools are needed.it costs approx 250 euro. unless there is a leak it will remain as full as when it was refilled, - Christy Smith
