Is it possible to install a front license plate on a 2005 jetta?

Question 1
Is it possible to install a front license plate on a 2005 jetta?...  I live in a state that requires a front and a back license plate and i have a 2005 jetta that only has a back license plate holder... is there any thing/ any way that i can have a front license plate holder installed (easily and cheap????)

p.s. on this car there is nothing like holes or ANYTHING for a license plate.. just a normal front bumper! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Answers
1)   No, your car will be the only one on the road without a licencse plate. Volkswagen did this on purpose because they want to make sure that if you bought one of their cars, it would be impossible to drive. - Matt

2)   Hi,
First thing to do is go to Pep Boys and AutoZone ask for a Kit to do that with.
I haven't done that myself, without ever doing I'm confident that is the answer.
I've probably seen them there before.

This is a Kit, I'm not talking about one of the cheap plastic crome looking frames. - AnswerRack.com

3)   In most states with a 2 license plate law it's legal to run a single plate as long as the car wasn't drilled for a front plate. I live in Nevada (2 plates) and it's not a problem; been running 1 plate for about 2 years. Worst case scenario just strap it to the passenger's side visor on the outside; I'm not sure how effective it is but I've seen several people do it. - Hank Scorpio

4)   If you buy the License Screws that are available at Pep Boys, Auto Zone or any auto parts store, all you need to do is mark the holes with a Marker and screw them in. The screws are like wood screws, and the plastic bumper will hold them just fine.
I saw this also: Use your Computer, Buy a piece of sticky back photo paper, and make a Miniature copy of the plate, large enough to show the letters/numbers and just stick it on the front.
Saw this on a Corvette.....Looks very good!!! - Lincoln Lover

5)   Your car came with a license plate bracket but someone did not install it. Just go to your local dealer and buy the bracket it rivets onto the bumper. It doesn't cost very much. - Luis

Question 2
If you had a choice between a 2007 VW GLI, 2010 or 2011 VW regular Jetta?...  The GLI has 30000 miles on it.

Which would you pick and why?
OH and the 2010 or 2011 Jetta would be brand new. 0 miles

Answers
1)   i'd go with the '07 because the insurance costs would me MUCH cheaper, as well as the payments. 30k isn't a lot of mileage at all, that car has a lot of life left in it(for a newer Volkswagen, at least). - Richard Ramirez

2)   An r32. That wasn't on your list? It is now. - Hank Scorpio

3)   A 2011 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. - Richard R

4)   Scoop up the GLI. 30k miles is nothing, just broken in. Insurance will be close to the same for all those cars (They have the same engine options, none of which are very powerful, and have the same safety equipment). The GLI will have a sportier look than the other 2 and will handle slightly better because it is a GLI. - Nick

5)   Depends on what you are looking for.
I sell VW's, so let me see if I can quickly sort the differences out: I'm talking about U.S. Specification Jettas, so if you are not in the US, the information may not apply.

A GLI has a 200 hp 2.0 L turbo charged engine. (and for a young driver it would cost more to insure, b.c it's turbo-charged). And it has an upgraded suspension, larger brakes, and is more sporty than the other two you list. Faster, and very nicely equipped. But- find out why the person is selling it first- b/c 30,000 miles on a 4 year old car is HIGHLY unusual and may indicate that the car wasn't driven for a while. (did they have problems with it, or maybe it was wrecked?)

A 2011 Jetta has become larger and more of a family sedan than it was in 2010.
It's lost some features that I like.
2011 vs 2010 Jetta changes:
The adjustable front armrest is gone and is replaced with a fixed armrest. Ok for some, but not for others.
The rear suspension is better on the 2010's than the 2011's. A fixed rear axle has replaced the independent rear suspension of the 2006-2010 models.
The electronics are better in the 2011. The bluetooth phone system is easier to use on the 2011.

The 2011 is less expensive than the 2010 when you compare model to model.

I'd have to agree that the best model Jetta to get would be one you have not listed: the Jetta TDI. 42+mpg (U.S), 3 years / 36,000 miles of free maintenance, you can't beat it. - J....

Question 3

1)   If taken care of properly, I wouldn't doubt anywhere from another 50 to 100k more miles. Maybe more. - The-Razors-Edge

2)   My brother in law did 250k miles on his 1992 Golf III. It was a 90 HP 1.8 gasoline version with LPG (liquid power gas). My neighbour did 310k miles with his 1986 Golf II 1.6 diesel. - Bobo Relov

3)   Transmission is already done. That's why he's selling it. - Hank Scorpio

4)   I have on my Vw 240000 its steel running like new.In the winter in cold weather start from first time..If that car its maintained and driven properly its'a good deal. - Goran

Question 4
2000 Jetta clutch won't go into gear? HELP!?...  I was driving my 2000 Jetta and all of a sudden, when I put my foot on the clutch I felt more heavy vibrations. It was harder to put the stick shift into gears then about 20 seconds later, it wouldn't go into gear at all. I pulled the car over to the side and turned the hazards on and when the tow truck came four hours later, the battery completely died as well. Has anybody ever had this problem before or know of a cheap way to find out the diagnostics? I am a college student and am barely surviving so money is definitely an issue. If you have any information about what might have happened and what I can do, I would be so grateful. Thank you so much!

Answers
1)   It seems to me you will need a new clutch, but go on face book or ask around to see if someone can repair it for you and buy the part online for about $60 and have someone put it in for about $150 to $200. If you take it to a shop it will cost you roughly $500 to $700. - Tim

2)   Is your clutch hydraulic operated? if so, you should check your clutch hydrualic
master cylinder reservoir and if it requires fluid you will need to fill with clean brake
fluid from a sealed container (brake fluid draws moisture). - Pat

3)   ouch... It sounds like either your linkage to your clutch is broken, or your clutch is gone. In a simi you could float the gears, but you sound stranded. Hope for the first, the broken or disconnected linkage. Actually as Pat mentioned, hope it is hydraulic and a change of fluid works. Hydraulic is another type of linkage. - TeQuest

Question 5
volkswagen golf mods?...  what kind of mods can I do to my golf? It's a 2004 golf, so it's an mk5. Nothing too crazy ie. vertical doors sort of stuff. Something moderately inexpensive.

any suggestions?

Answers
1)   Intake, Headers, High Flow Catalytic Converter, Cat-Back Exhaust, Chip the ECU, you can do anyhthing depending on how much money you have to spend - Chris

2)   Go to VW Vortex.com and take a peek.

Vertical doors aren't cheap, but if they fit in your budget, have fun. - J....

3)   Performance wise and cat-back exhaust and a cold air intake would give you a nice boost.

Other: Possibly a bit bigger wheels, true HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights, tinted windows and tail lights. (if legal in your state)

This would make it look a lot nicer, give you quite a bit more power, and it would be a lot more enjoyable to drive. With HIDs at night, the tint for people shining into your mirrors and keeping it a lot cooler inside in the summer. - yahoo
