Would you get the new 2011 Jetta?

Question 1
Would you get the new 2011 Jetta?...  I'm reading the site and the options in the car seem amazing and it has everything in it I could ever want in a car. My friends are saying though that the reason the new Jetta is cheaper is because Volkswagen cheaped out on the production and they'll last half as long as the old ones. I hope this isn't true but does anyone happen to have any knowledge on the topic? How could they give what appears to be a substantially better car for such a significantly lesser price? besides there being less power in the engine,

Answers
1)   better than a prius - cdude100

2)   im utterly with cdude100, its better than the prius, its alot cheaper, safer, more reliable, looks alot better, cool since its not hybrid, and it saves alot of gas, fuel efficient tho but i wouldnt have one cuz i have S4 - Echoz E

3)   I am going to look closely at the Jetta TDI (diesel) because of the coming shortage and extreme high prices of gasoline. Diesel will still be available because trucks and farm equipment will still need it, even if gas is rationed. - Starrysky

4)   Volkswagen really went cheap on the new jetta....they did a complete redeisgn on it, and they did a good job, but americans buy jettas because they are sporty, fuel efficient, and extremely safe. But on the new jettas some of the luxurious interior features were replaced with cheap, harder plastics, and jetta fans are some what disappointed by the performance of the car.. From the reviews they said that it is slower BUT it has great handling, which is what is expected from a jetta. If i were to buy a jetta i would buy one from last year. The design is better, they are more sporty, still very safe, and very fuel efficient especially in the tdi model (turbo diesel). - Jimmy S

5)   Get a Golf instead. The new Jetta has been "Americanized". It is cheaper than the old one and isn't quite as well built. The soft touch surfaces were replaced with hard plastic. I don't think it is less reliable, it's just not as nice and the materials are cheaper. That sort of thing. The new Golf however is still a great car. They haven't messed with that one yet. I have a 2008 GTI. It's like butter. I love it. Such a great little car. - Louis G

Question 2
Volkswagen polo 1.6 petrol highline --how is this car?...  how is this car? i think performance will be good but what about mileage?any comments /suggestion/ opinion about this car?

Answers
1)   brilliant. any VW is great. I've had one for the last 4 years and it is perfect. The polo is a little small, but if you're ok with the size everything else is irrelevant. Mileage I'd say dont buy much higher then 120,000. good performance too - Me

2)   the car offers performance of a sedan..it churns out 105bhp...it is only available in petrol and so the mileage wil be less if u r driving in city...it wil not give u more than 12kmpl in city - Mustafa Kutub

3)   It should do about 34 mpg in local running and about 39 to 41 mpg on a run. If you can run to it you would be better off with a Golf 2 litre as they are well known for economy. I used to have a Mk3 GTI and it did 32 mpg and near 40 on a run. - L G

4)   It is a performance oriented hatch. The Vento the sedan of Polo range comes with same engine and reports indicates the fuel efficiency in City 12.1 and Highway 16.5 kmpl. You can expect slightly better fuel efficiency figures in the Polo as the hatch is ligher than sedan.
Also you can consider FIAT Grande Punto 90hp if you are bothered about fuel efficiency of Polo and Punto gives you much better fuel efficiency (City 15.5 and Highway 19.18kmpl) and performance better than the regular hatches and in style and space too not bad.
Skoda Fabia and TATA Indica Vista 90hp also comes in same league but in terms of performance similar with polo as it shares the same engine but in looks fabia not attractive as polo and punto. Finally Vista is reasonably priced and very spacious. The image, fit and finish let it down but still a best buy. - nabeelps

Question 3
I have a 97 gti. heat ducks wont close or open all the way.?...  When switching from floor to face or to defrost it seems like the flaps stay open some. Just puts heat all over rather then in desired setting. Please help.

Answers
1)   Possible interference on Google downright Htviedk Akta - Angel James

2)   The actuator under the dash is bad and not a fun part to change. - Scott W

3)   Try feeding them more grains. Ducks like grains. Or did you mean DUCTS? - MIKEnJAPAN

4)   Before you start tearing your dash apart replacing actuators, there is a cheap and easy step to take. On your fire wall, usually above your brake booster/master cylinder there is a blue and white check valve in between your smaller vacuum lines. These go bad after time and can cause the problems you're having. It may also be a good time to look at replacing all the vacuum lines. They tend to become brittle on a 13 year old car. I would start there before diving into your dashboard. - Paul Aldridge

Question 4
MR2 Turbo (1994) vs Volkswagen R32 (2004) First Car?...  i am looking at one of each of these cars, Mr2 turbo=7000$, R32=13,000. I live just south of Denver, and the elevation is about 6500 feet, so snow is a very present problem from November-March or so, and the MR2 is pretty...extremely unsafe in snow, and i was wondering what other people thought of it vs the R32 because of it's AWD and everything.

Answers
1)   um R32 - online

2)   The MR2 is a mid rear wheel drive car not suited for snow conditions. The R32 is a awd high output car. its newer and safer I think your answer is in your question already. - DrkLce

3)   mr 2 is a mid rear i had a 1985 non turbo. and unless you are familliar with the handling of a mid rear in the wet you will know what i'm talking about, in the snow its worse. because of zero grip. yes a awd is a good idea. but i wouldnt pick the r32 skyline or volkswagen as they are both 6 cyls yes the r32 vdub is a v6 awd. a car more suited to the purpose would be a subaru forrester non turbo. as it has elevated ground clearance and is awd - gooseboy78

Question 5
What will happen if i terminate my VW lease?...  Hello everyone. I need a little help and advice. I have a 2010 VW Tiguan. It has 5,000 miles in it and I leased it about 6 months ago. I am paying $450 a month and I feel like its affecting me a bit. I am short on money etc. I want to cancel this lease or trade in this car for another car. The other card would be a 2010 GTI. My car is worth $30,000 and the GTI i want is $25,000. The payment would be lower. I got the car under the college program VW offers. Please if you can help me with some knowledge that would be great. What would happen if i trade in the tiguan for the GTI? I want to lease the GTI too. Thank you

Answers
1)   You need to go to the dealer and see what can be done. Basically a lease is paying for the depreciation on a car while you use it. Since most of the depreciation is in the first year, typically you will owe more on the car in that first year than it is worth, so you may need to pay a lot of money to break the lease, or have that extra money rolled into the next lease, which will mean the payments are not any lower.

The dealer may have other options for you. You might be able to change the length of the lease to lower the payments a bit. - Matt

2)   Your problem is you are leasing a vehicle to try and get a car you can't afford. You should only lease a vehicle if you can write it off on a business. You're stuck unless you can get the dealer to break the lease which I doubt they will do unless you buy something outright worth more cash! Got insurance? Park it at the end of an icy road that jogs 90°. - thebax2006

3)   Good luck- first of all, you need to contact VW Credit and ask them about early termination. There will be a HUGE penalty on this. Also, you have to understand something about leasing, it is based on not only the price of the car, but its residual at the end of the lease term. Finally, there is another thing you should know, a GTi is not cheap to insure. Frankly, I think you do not like the Tiguan, and you want something that has more testosterone, that is if you are a male. Should have gone with the GTi in the first place. - djaca70
