Question 2
2006 Volkswagen Jetta Car Scam?...  I don't know where to report a car scam online besides the ic3 website. Just trying to help, please don't send any money to these people, found an ad posted on a newspaper and responded:

The car is back in US, if you are interested in it, then please read my e-mail entirely and with caution because I will explain how you can buy it. It already is at the shipping company, sealed and ready for delivery but no problem because you can see, test drive and inspect the car before buying it. You already know I am not available to meet you in person (because I am in UK waiting for my deployment in Iraq), so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the Internet. therefore getting this through a third party such as Green Dot (they have a purchase protection program similar with the one offered by eBay) is the best solution for me.
As far as I know after I discussed with Green Dot the transaction works like this: You need to send me your FULL NAME; shipping ADDRESS and PHONE number; I will forward them to Green Dot so we can initiate our transaction with them; after the transaction will start we will both receive further instructions about it including payment invoice and bill of sale; you will need to make a partial deposit to Green Dot; they will give me the shipping instructions to send the car over; I will ship the car to your address; you will receive it and then you will have 5 days in which to inspect it; drive it and check its documents before actually deciding to keep it. During all this time Green Dot will hold the money in their trust account. If you will be satisfied with the car and will decide to keep it then you will inform Green Dot about this, you will need to pay the remaining balance too and then Green Dot will release the money to me. If the car is not as I described it and you will decide not to keep it then Green Dot will refund your payment in full, no questions asked and shipping back the car will be my concern.
Please take into consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car and make sure everything is as agreed. I think this is fair for the both of us.

Kindly,
Corporal Miriam Clarck

P.S. I don't think you need to worry about the shipping because Green Dot quoted me with a great price offer through one of their trusted companies and I decided to include the shipping in the car's price.

Question 3
Vw Golf 1.6 charging system........?...  I have a vw golf 1,6 and the charging system is charging at13.99 volts on idle and when you rev about 3000 rpm the charge rate is approx 14 volts but it will take time to reach 14 volts... the rate will fluctuate between 13.5 to 13.99 then reach 14 volts after a while.... is this a faulty Alternator. the battery has been renewed any ideas help?? as far as i;m aware on idle charge rate should be 14volts...???
shortly after a couple of days car is hard to start in teh mornings... will need a jump start then will drive ok...

Answers
1)   Sound like the alternator is fine and you need a new battery or to clean up the connections
Car batteries last 3 years fine but after that the current cold weather can kill one easily. - Timbo is here

2)   it may just possible just one diode has failed? and is allowing the battery to drain down? 14.4 volts is perfect output so we can roughly say alternator is functioning well so this tends to discount a faulty diode !!
contradiction ? otherwise logic dictates we have a battery drain down somewhere so it reduces voltage and power in battery hence poor starting. for non starting we need a flat battery and this can only normally be achieved by having a 'short; to earth eg a boot lamp on? or a circuit not switched off. OR a faulty battery. how about investing if possible to fi in an trickle charger?
try looking at sites such as www.bcae1.com/charging.htm
or others for more info. essentially you appear to have a leak to earth and it is a matter of locating that and correcting it. - hornchurchmale

3)   14 VDC is optimum for a bosch or motorola, 14.4 would boil your battery dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a year on this and a make on the alternator and amp rating.

Go with all connections on the Ground cable are corroded and need to be cleaned with emery cloth or wire brushed till shiny. man I have seen it be a problem in the instrument cluster but that is a reach here. Clean cable ends and pull the bolts out and clean the threads too.

Even one diode fails and the Alt light comes on, where do these guys come up with this crap???

Question 5
2000 VW jetta VR6 Temp issues?...  My 2000 VR6 is having overheating problems, the radiator hose has been replaced now when driving short distances the needle jumps up to 190 and I have yet to see it go higher. This seems to be a bit high.

I have looked and not found the average running temp anywhere.

What is the average running temp at 30k RPM's?
And what is the best way to test the temp sensor and water pump on this car?

Ty In advance!

Answers
1)   190 is fine, that is considered to be operating temp.

If it goes higher, check coolant level. VW's are known for water pumps sheering off internally, so its always something to consider if problems arise, but for now I'd consider your car fine. - Ryan Burwood

2)   on VWs the fans kick in at about 212 degrees which i believe is boiling point but because the system is under pressure the boiling point is raised. for many years it was known that to run these engines at hotter temperatures causes the engine to run at peak performance as well as the engine putting out less emissions which was required by the EPA. i do believe that your running temperature is in the optimal range for that car. if it were going to actually overheat you would indeed know it very quickly because the pressure in the system would exceed the coolant cap pressure release rating thus blowing coolant everywhere - Al
