is the 2011 jetta a mans car?

Question 1
is the 2011 jetta a mans car?...  i have been wondering if the 2011 jetta is considered a girly car or a mans car? please give opinion especially if based on facts about the vehicle.

Answers
1)   A car is a car, if it runs and its not rusted or falling apart, its a good car. Any car can be a mans car, as long as its not pink. - Michael Gabor

2)   What facts that you couldn't look up yourself, support if its a girly car or not? Its all about perception. All you'll get is opinions. Some people think they are, some don't. Just like old farts all drive Buicks, college professors drive Saabs/Volvos, etc etc.

Past Jettas were considered girly, but the redesigned model isn't quite as "cute" as the old one. The next "girly" car will be the Fiat500 when they hit showrooms - Store Brand Mayonnaise

3)   volkswagens are gender neutral. The only important thing is you need to have at least one day a week when you can be in the waiting room while your car is being fixed. - Foremost authority

4)   Facts about a cars girlyness or manlyness? You some kinda tard or something?

If a guy's driving a Jetta, it's that guys car. If a chicks driving a Jetta, it's that chicks car.

I'm secure enough that I'd have no problem driving a New Beetle convertible, are you? - Richard R

5)   The great thing about vw is they don't target a specific gender. They generally target the outdoorsy adventurous fun loving type of people. I don't particularily like the way the new jettas look, and in my opinion they look more girly than before.. but if I was behind the wheel it would look manly as the car takes the personality of its driver. As long as its not pink with daisies painted on it.

A lot of people will say that vws aren't reliable, but as far as my experience goes with them.. I've never had a problem in 160k miles on my 2003 golf aside from frequently changing bulbs cuz they tend to go out more than any other car I know of. But they're fun to drive and its a small price to pay.

Any car is reliable as long as you don't drive like a dooshbag and actually take care of the thing.

Back to your question, don't worry. No one will see a guy driving a vw jetta of any year and think.. wow.. why is he driving that girly car? - zeek

6)   To me a lot to do with it depends on where you live. I'm from KY and people out in the country are all about big pickups and big slow caddyboats and stuff like that. Over there a small euro sedan might be considered a bit girly. If you live closer to civilization the only thing that matter is your opinion of the car. - Denis

Question 2
What is the best brand of Coilovers for a 2004 VW GTI?...  I'm thinking of buying coilovers for my boyfriend for christmas. I'm looking to spend around $400. I was wondering what the best brand to buy him is. He has a 2004 Volkswagen GTI. I was looking on sites like ECS tuning and VW Vortex. I don't even know where to start. I don't want to ask him because I want it to be a huge surprise. Does anyone have any tips?

Answers
1)   watch out for the people at Vortex, 99% of the people that use that forum are smug @ssholes. but in my experience, Koni and Eibach make some of the best supsension upgrades for VW's. also check out Neuspeed, but their stuff is expensive and it's no better than most other brands. awesome gift idea by the way. - James Dean

2)   megan racing, koni, eibach, tein, ksport

best brands, megan racing is best bang for your buck.

i doubt you'll be able to find him coilovers for 400 dollars, if you do they will suck. if he just wants it lowered, lowering springs will do the same job, just not be adjustable. they are in your price range. - Greg

3)   If he just wants it lowered you van just buy him an angle grinder and tell him to cut his stock ones. Not as good as some high end coilovers but it cheap. - Denis

4)   I reccomend KW V2 or V3

but for $400 i would go for a raceland or JOM coilover - mr VR6

Question 3
should I take an extended warranty on a new vw?...

Answers
1)   sdgffdgf - Carter Grayson

2)   No, that's a waste of money! - serio

3)   Vws are fairly reliable cars, but an extended warranty might cover scheduled maintenance like replacing the brake fluid after 2 years and stuff like that. You don't need to but if you are willing to drop the extra cash for it you won't regret it. - Denis

Question 4
About how much will this cost for my 03 vw golf?...  Money is not an issue. I love my 2003 golf, never had any problems (aside from headlights/taillights going out relatively frequently). It has 160k miles on it, and I intend to push itt to a million, dropping whatever I need in it to make it last.

I also intend to bring the hp from 120 to 300+ (if possible for a 4cylinder, if I have to ill switch it out and replace it with a v6 similar to the r32) and replace the suspension and get a weight reduction for better handling. I want to add a 6th gear for the 5spd manual tranny. I will get a decent sound system with one of those touch screens. I want to repaint it a smokey black and get new interior cloth, similar to the r32's plad type design. I want smoked taillights and those awesomely bright headlights.. and ill tint the windows just enough.

I know its a lot of money, and would probably be more cost effective just to buy a new car but I don't care. I want this car. And I want it to be awesome with performance and looks.

Any car specialists out there who can give me a very rough estimate as to how much this would cost me? Like I said.. money is not a problem..

1)   For what you are talking would be a nightmare. Not just the engine swap but the wiring of the entire car and everything. Good thing money is not an option because you will be looking around 15000 to say it good. More than likely more than that. - mave133

2)   I have a buddy with a mk4 2.0l gold that wanted to replace the engine for a 1.8 turbo. The problem here is that almost all of the engine components including all of the exhaust system need to be replaced with the ones from a 6cyl car. So the minimum that just the engine swap will cost is a donor car. Which is a shame and would be much more cost and labor effective for you to either keep your engine or sell your car and buy a r32. Also 300+ hp for a fwd car is a lot and it will have some serious steering issues. My opinion is that if you just chip your engine replace the exhaust and buy a bigger turbo kit with some nice new intake components it would be much more reasonable then replacing the engine. - Denis

Question 5
how much do newer used vw beetle cars cost?...  and how does the car drive?
also what type of deficiencies does it have?
is it overall a good car?
easy to drive?
the only reason i want it is because im a new driver (17) and i find that driving a smaller car for me is way easier and more comfortable. i can really see myself driving it. i want a newer version anywhere from 2000-2010 depending on the price.so pls give any advise thanks!
ignore the 4th question lol
it's not really about the cuteness to me it's literally the smallest affordable car i know of. if that's not true pls let me know. thanks!

1)   it all depends on the mileage and condition, i usually see these cars sell for anywhere between $3,000 and $15,000. but i know you probably think these cars are cute, but they're complete pieces of crap underneath and will cause you nothing but grief. the New Beetle's design is seriously flawed from a mechanic's perspective, and labor costs for repairs cost a decent bit more cash because of this. it's just that there's very little room under the hood of these cars for even a minor repair like changing a belt, it takes mechanics(like me) about 3 times as long to do something like this and you'll end up breaking the bank for repairs. maintenance is also another factor, VW's require more attention than most other cars just to function properly...and the cost adds up. seriously, save your cash and buy a Civic or something else.

EDIT: there's plenty of small cars to choose from for only a couple grand. i'd personally recommend a Honda Civic or Subaru Impreza. you can get a decent one for about 3 grand and they have extremely long lifespans. my backup car is a '97 Civic EX and it has almost 300,000 miles on it right now, i've yet to need a serious repair on it too. - James Dean

2)   You can always use blue book to see what any given make and model car should cost. It gives you a fairly accurate estimate from my experience and you can always use it to bargain with a dealer or private seller. I got a mk4 golf as my first car and I have never regretted it. Vws require their maintenance but if you are willing to keep up with they will keep on runing. I saw a post on a forum of a jetta on 600k miles. The beetle is fantastic for a first car and i can guarantee you that you will either love it or you'll hate it but at least you will be glad you are not in an indifferent and dull car like a civic. Don't get me wrong a little jap soap box will get you from a to b without a problem but at leat for me it's hard to even think of owning one. Love your vw and your vw will love you back. If you neglect to change your oil or change your timing belt very 100k miles or so it will cost you an arm and a leg in repair bills. It is that simple. - Denis
