Question 4
Why are my New Beetle's windows frosting up on the -inside-?...  For the past few days, my VW New Beetle has started collecting frost on the -inside- of the windshield. The first day it was just the windshield, but now it's all the windows. Somebody had mentioned it could be a bad window seal (I have a sunroof and all), but this just started happening after I had to drive the Beetle home through a harsh snowstorm. I don't have a skid plate, so the engine compartment got packed tight with snow, the belt even fell of the motor. Could the packed snow have done some kind of damage that would be causing my windows to frost up from the inside? What are the possible problems that could be causing this?

~Thank you!

Answers
1)   I'd say it is the result of being in such a cold area that you have to experience this for yourself.

I would not recommend this for myself but you might try putting rain-x on your windows to keep anything from sticking to them.

I do not like the stuff because it tends to cause a glare during certain conditions at night - Randy W

2)   Small leak in the heater core, or you just have a lot of residual snow that got down into the ventilation system. - doane_nut

3)   its condensation get dry cloth next time your out in car go round dry all windows before leaving car this is all you do may take 2 times to clear just rub windows when you leave car with dry cloth - les

4)   Check the footwells for being wet. This can do it.

Seriously don't get worked up on the heater core since it fogs your window when driving and fully warm!

I think you have a lot of water on the floor.

Question 5
VW Jetta -looking for transmission BOOK...where?...  Failing on searching for a Transmission Manual...well cuz google is so smart it thinks i'm looking for a manual transmission

I am attempting to take apart the Tranny of a 1998 Jetta GL 2L
but it won't come apart
i need a book to figure WTF

anyone know where I can find a book....CHILTON failed--it has 2 pages on the Tranny--SAD

Answers
1)   you can try this to see if this will help...
http://www.longenterprises.com/ - Mr. Dent

2)   Dealership manual. They sometimes come in volumes and are big. They are also expensive (around 120$) Books like chilton don't go very in depth with most things. But depending on what you are stuck on (trans housing removal or removing a gear or whatever) it may not help much. Manual transmissions can be hard to get apart sometimes since some of the interference fits are tight and gears are brittle. - A S

3)   Chiltons suck. You need a Bentley, for this and anything you do to your car. Here's one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0837603668/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0837612519&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0NYB95W0QYVNMRW2SDRT - Mark K

4)   The Bentley is really what you need. But what you really don't need to do is disassemble that transmission. o2o transmissions are a dime a dozen. Find someone on vwvortex parting out a mk3 with a 2.0 and snag working one for anywhere from $150-$200 - Nick
