Question 1
I have a 97 gti. heat ducks wont close or open all the way.?...  When switching from floor to face or to defrost it seems like the flaps stay open some. Just puts heat all over rather then in desired setting. Please help.

1)   Possible interference on Google downright Htviedk Akta - Angel James

2)   The actuator under the dash is bad and not a fun part to change. - Scott W

3)   Try feeding them more grains. Ducks like grains. Or did you mean DUCTS? - MIKEnJAPAN

4)   Before you start tearing your dash apart replacing actuators, there is a cheap and easy step to take. On your fire wall, usually above your brake booster/master cylinder there is a blue and white check valve in between your smaller vacuum lines. These go bad after time and can cause the problems you're having. It may also be a good time to look at replacing all the vacuum lines. They tend to become brittle on a 13 year old car. I would start there before diving into your dashboard. - Paul Aldridge

Question 2
How Can I Make My VW 03 Passat Faster?...  i have a 2003 1.8T 5Speed and i was wondering, How can i make my car faster?
or what do i have to put into it to make it so i can race.
im just trying to race on the streets,.. not serious racing.. just to mess around with ppl hah

racing like from light to light or on the freeway lol

Answers
1)   race where/who? vw's are built heavy like tanks. - MCXD

2)   The 1.8T is already quick enough in a straight line. Try other things. Like getting your G up. Some R type tires, stiff shocks, coilovers, stiffening bars to get rid of frame flex, etc. And if you're for real about racing, strip it out. Getting rid of weight is your best friend - Nathan Sherman

3)   see if they have any carbon fiber available for your car. Carbon fiber is extremely light so it'll take away alot of weight from your car making it quicker.
Also, see if they have air intakes and turbo kits. They also have ECU chips that can add up to 50 HP to your car. :) Hope this was helpful.

Question 3
Is it possible to turn my 01 jetta gls 2.0 in to AWD?...

Answers
1)   if you have enough money anything is possible - ladystang

2)   Anything is possible.

Why not just sell it and buy an AWD Jetta or A4 instead? - calnickel

3)   The only reasonable way to make this cost effective would be if you could buy an AWD wreck with compatible parts.
But I would not really recommend it.
AWD weighs more and cuts mileage, and would only improve handling in snow and water.
The back end is not heavy enough to make much difference otherwise. - Motorhead

Question 4
64 vw beetle generator?...  does anyone know how to change and replace a 1964 volkswagon beetle 6volt generator please if anyone can give me step by step that would be amazing, or should i tak it to a shop and let them do it plz someone help me

Answers
1)   Here you go.

http://www.5min.com/Video/Classic-VW-Beetle-Bug-How-To-Remove-Generator-30436618 - Gaijin

2)   Hey Jeff,
Taking the generator out is a real bitch. It can be done while the engine is in the car but it's no fun.
My best suggestion is to get the shop manual that covers your vehicle. If you're going to be doing this kind of work spending the $$ for the manual can save you big time down the road.

Be very careful not to ding up the fan. The big nut on the back of the fan will take a lot to get it undone. Be sure not to over-tighten the belt when you re-install it. Also be sure to get the fan shroud back in place and properly fastened.

It's a learning curve buddy the more you do on your car the more you learn. VW's are pretty simple to work on and this is something you can do. It's just gonna take some time and some sweat and a little bit of cursing. (hold off on the beers till AFTER the works done!) - Jim

3)   try www.cbperformance.com or appletreeautomotive.com for gen to alt upgrade.and will have to change all bulbs on the car to 12 volt, and change battery to 12 volt and starter or the 6 volt will last for awhile till it burns out from the 12 volt battery.(motor will spin over faster with the 12 v bat on the 6 v starter),to change the gen to alt you have to remove the carb and center section of the intake remove the gen strap and four 10 mm bolts from dog house where the fan is on gen.(would be easier to work on if motor was out of the car but if still in will be more work in the tight area)and remove the gen than remove the four nuts that hold the gen stand to the block.then reverse this procedure to install new alt stand and alt.can use the fan from your gen. - KAM

Question 5
Should I trade my 72 VW Super Beetle?...  So I have this 72 Super beetle, original engine, runs great. Only problems are all the little things that come along with bugs, fixing heat, changing out generator to alternator, and yadayada. Well being a student, I was offered by my loving grandma, 2,000 bucks if I sell my car. Just because in the future we know this will need a new engine.
Now I'm estimating, since my car is in awesome shape (no rust, paint job, original running engine) that I could get at least 2,000.
If you were me, would you sell the car to get a newer one? Granting I have 4,000 bucks. I could if anything put a big down payment on a semi-new/used car.
Opinions please! Thanks in advance!

Answers
1)   dont trade it/ sell it privately. put it on an owners club website or very cautiously on ebay.
if youve had it a long time advertise it locally (someone may have had an eye on it) - Christian Boyce

2)   if your grandma is going to give you $2000 just ask her for the money without selling it to use the money for a new engine if you think its going to not last much longer. what makes you think that its going soon anyway? you can get a new turnkey 1600 engine for for only $2500. if i were you i would negotiate that with your grandmother. keep the bug alive!!! - Air-Cooled (o\ ! /o)

3)   try www.thesamba.com you might want to ask dear old grandma for 5 G's more for your original super beetle.they are going from 8 to 10 thousand bucks, very collectable car you have way worth fixing up. - KAM
