is the 2011 jetta a mans car?

Question 1
is the 2011 jetta a mans car?...  i have been wondering if the 2011 jetta is considered a girly car or a mans car? please give opinion especially if based on facts about the vehicle.
thank you

Answers
1)   A car is a car, if it runs and its not rusted or falling apart, its a good car. Any car can be a mans car, as long as its not pink. - Michael Gabor

2)   What facts that you couldn't look up yourself, support if its a girly car or not? Its all about perception. All you'll get is opinions. Some people think they are, some don't. Just like old farts all drive Buicks, college professors drive Saabs/Volvos, etc etc.

Past Jettas were considered girly, but the redesigned model isn't quite as "cute" as the old one. The next "girly" car will be the Fiat500 when they hit showrooms - Store Brand Mayonnaise

3)   volkswagens are gender neutral. The only important thing is you need to have at least one day a week when you can be in the waiting room while your car is being fixed. - Foremost authority

4)   Facts about a cars girlyness or manlyness? You some kinda tard or something?

If a guy's driving a Jetta, it's that guys car. If a chicks driving a Jetta, it's that chicks car.

I'm secure enough that I'd have no problem driving a New Beetle convertible, are you? - Richard R

5)   The great thing about vw is they don't target a specific gender. They generally target the outdoorsy adventurous fun loving type of people. I don't particularily like the way the new jettas look, and in my opinion they look more girly than before.. but if I was behind the wheel it would look manly as the car takes the personality of its driver. As long as its not pink with daisies painted on it.

A lot of people will say that vws aren't reliable, but as far as my experience goes with them.. I've never had a problem in 160k miles on my 2003 golf aside from frequently changing bulbs cuz they tend to go out more than any other car I know of. But they're fun to drive and its a small price to pay.

Any car is reliable as long as you don't drive like a dooshbag and actually take care of the thing.

Back to your question, don't worry. No one will see a guy driving a vw jetta of any year and think.. wow.. why is he driving that girly car? - zeek

6)   To me a lot to do with it depends on where you live. I'm from KY and people out in the country are all about big pickups and big slow caddyboats and stuff like that. Over there a small euro sedan might be considered a bit girly. If you live closer to civilization the only thing that matter is your opinion of the car. - Denis

Question 2
Why is my 2005 Jetta TDI turning over but not firing?...  This happened a couple days ago while I was driving to a store.
Drove fine, worked perfect, then all of a sudden my car just died. No warning, jerking, noises, grumbling, nothing. Felt almost as if I just turned it off with the key.
Tried to restart, but all that would happen is the engine would turn over from the starter, but it wont fire. My uncle got it fired once, but then auto shut off happened from low oil pressure. Fixed that, and now the oil pressure isn't a problem.
I ran on E for about 20 miles from my uncles house then filled up to half a tank (the day before the car died). I am thinking it might be a clogged filter, since it is a diesel.
However, is there any more ideas beyond just the filter?
I can guarantee I did not put gas instead of diesel, I have never made that mistake. Besides, the Chevron that I went to has separate pumps for diesel and gas, so it isn't easy to mix them up.

Also, I had no choice but to run it on E. I just had the knuckle and bearing fixed, and had to drive it home late at night from one city to the next, about 20 miles. It apparently just hit E when I dropped it off a couple days before, so it wasn't like it ran on E for a long time, but I'm sure long enough to screw something up.

I bought a new fuel filter, going to try that today. As well as a couple other of those things. I'll report back on my findings.

1)   There's water floating on the fuel, and you got some of that in the fuel system upstream from the tank, maybe corroded injectors or temporarily put deposits on glow plugs. Shouldn't run anything on empty for too long. - Van Bo

2)   Clogged filter is the mostly likely answer. other possibility albeit unlikely, is that your fuel rail is no good, but not totally out of the question. - drevrandfan

3)   Its more than likely air in your injectors.
open the nut on the end of each injector,
one at a time then turn the engine to bleed the system.

Should sort your problem - Pj Griffin

4)   Check the fuel cut off solenoid(which is on the fuel injection pump) I believe it is a black wire that is nutted down on the top of the pump. That wire comes from the ignition switch. With you in the car and uncle listening under the hood turn the key until the dash lights come on- then turn it off. And do it again. You do not want to engage the starter so you are not turning the key "that far".
Uncle should hear a faint click coming from where the black(I believe that is the color) wire connects to the fuel injecton pump roughly about the center of the engine or when facing engine compartment on the right hand side of the pump.
The only way to stop a diesel engine is to cut off the fuel supply. If this thing does not click, either it is at fault, or the wiring at fault or a problem with the key switch.
Even though it is black, it is a power wire; so if uncle is mechanically minded he could run a wire directly from the battery to this solenoid screw nut that is insulated from the rest of the grounded pump and then while he is touching the wire there on the solenoid, you crank over the engine. If it starts, it works. If uncle takes his contact wire away and the engine shuts off, then it is an electrical problem to the solenoid.
In my case it was a worn out ignition switch(but my car was 25 years older than yours and it is the "first ignition switch" I have ever had to replace.
If in doubt, have it towed to the dealership shop and let them fix you up. - Doing the Math

5)   Strange how the car died after the fuel refill. My guess is you put gasoline in the car instead of diesel fuel. This is occurring all the time in UK . You should be able to smell it if you open the fuel filler and get close. It will need draining off and refilling with the correct fuel. - L G

6)   Lesson learned... never run a diesel down to empty. Never never do it. - Louis G

Jetta 1.8t vs Audi 1.8t?...  I wanna know which is a better buy, [more reliable, faster, better mpg...ect]

Answers
1)   Jetta - Mr Natural

2)   they are virtually identical the audi usually has a better level of trim - Harley Drive

3)   id choose the jetta unless you want to "ACT" like you have money and end up paying a lot more for an identical car that only has different emblems on it seriously they are almost the same - ....

4)   The engine is the same. Straight line performance will be very close to the same. Audi will use better suspension and interior components. - Louis G

5)   You will get slightly better mpg and acceleration from the jetta, the reliability will be about the same. But the transmission on the manuals lasts a lot longer than the automatics. The audi does have nicer components on the inside, althoug the jettas did come with bose speakers, and fairly good suspension. Mine still rides smooth with 110k miles on it, I'm happy with it.

Last time I looked at an A4 1.8t I picked the jetta over it because the audi had cheap leather...or pleather in it that was falling apart. - Wookie

Does an 81 vw rabbit pickup have a sound system?...

Answers
1)   it should have come with a radio, but sound SYSTEM? I doubt it - Brandon S

2)   I love a bargain as much as anyone and I used to love all the cheap stuff I could find on eBay, but nowadays it seems so hard to find anything cheap over there and just when we're all finding it tougher to just pay our bills. I don't give up so I was looking for someplace online where I could still find myself a bargain... and by accident I came across this site I never heard of before where you get rock bottom prices from police impounded stuff, I mean I was worried about scams but this stuff is actually real and I got some real cheap stuff there... it's become my new eBay lol! Go to WinItems.com - Regina Elder

3)   Yes, likely a radio, perhaps even an AM/FM Cassette deck. (remember cassettes?) - Saxster

4)   I had an 80' VW Pickup, it had a head unit and two speakers (SMALL speakers, 4x4 if I remember correctly); one in each door panel. There's not a lot of room to add any more sound to them. - Red

Question 5
About how much will this cost for my 03 vw golf?...  Money is not an issue. I love my 2003 golf, never had any problems (aside from headlights/taillights going out relatively frequently). It has 160k miles on it, and I intend to push itt to a million, dropping whatever I need in it to make it last.

I also intend to bring the hp from 120 to 300+ (if possible for a 4cylinder, if I have to ill switch it out and replace it with a v6 similar to the r32) and replace the suspension and get a weight reduction for better handling. I want to add a 6th gear for the 5spd manual tranny. I will get a decent sound system with one of those touch screens. I want to repaint it a smokey black and get new interior cloth, similar to the r32's plad type design. I want smoked taillights and those awesomely bright headlights.. and ill tint the windows just enough.

I know its a lot of money, and would probably be more cost effective just to buy a new car but I don't care. I want this car. And I want it to be awesome with performance and looks.

Any car specialists out there who can give me a very rough estimate as to how much this would cost me? Like I said.. money is not a problem..

Answers
1)   For what you are talking would be a nightmare. Not just the engine swap but the wiring of the entire car and everything. Good thing money is not an option because you will be looking around 15000 to say it good. More than likely more than that. - mave133

2)   I have a buddy with a mk4 2.0l gold that wanted to replace the engine for a 1.8 turbo. The problem here is that almost all of the engine components including all of the exhaust system need to be replaced with the ones from a 6cyl car. So the minimum that just the engine swap will cost is a donor car. Which is a shame and would be much more cost and labor effective for you to either keep your engine or sell your car and buy a r32. Also 300+ hp for a fwd car is a lot and it will have some serious steering issues. My opinion is that if you just chip your engine replace the exhaust and buy a bigger turbo kit with some nice new intake components it would be much more reasonable then replacing the engine. - Denis

3)   You don't need a weight reduction. Unless you plan on making it more of a track car. Just get some nice coilovers and some antisway bars and you'll swear you're driving a new car.

The 1.8t is by far the most easily and cheapest VW motor to mod. Since it already has a turbo you can buy kits with a bigger turbo and replacement parts that can handle the extra horsepower.

If you want to do the R32 swap you are crazy. For what it's going to cost you you can almost buy an R32. That said if you still want more power, drop a 24v Vr6 in. 200hp stock. As far as I know you can't just crack open your transmission and toss a 6th gear in there. Get on the VWVortex classified and pick up and o2m transmission.

The best way to get a new interior in a VW is to get on vortex again and start searching. VW (at least for the Mk3) made tons and tons of different interiors. Obviously some are rarer than others but you'll find what you want.

Paint can cost anywhere from $500 to $20,000 just depends on what you want done and what you take care of yourself.

Don't get projectors, angel eyes, or HIDS...that is unless you like the ricey scene and like being flamed by other VW owners. Find some ecodes.

It's almost impossible to put a price on what you want done. If you do ALL the work yourself, except paint, I would guess $12k-$20k. If you're one of those bought not built guys you better have really deep pockets because you're probably looking at $20k-$35k worth of work. - Nick
