life expectancy volkswagon tdi engine?

Question 1
life expectancy volkswagon tdi engine?...

Answers
1)   I can drain the oil and blow it up in about 15-20 min?
I can baby it along and do the correct maintainance and make it 300k
I could run it decent all day long with no maintainance and get about 100k
I could beat the crap out if with regualar maintanance, and get 150k

maintanance, driving habits, city vs highway traffic/miles, type of oil used....

alot of variables, but most diesels will make it well past 150k without many problems. - Justin

2)   100K miles on a diesel is considered barely broken in. As long as the car has been well maintained you can expect 200K-300K miles out of a TDI - Scott W

3)   My '01 has about 175k right now and I would have no problem jumping in it and driving anywhere you'd ask me to.

The first answer is perfect, really. - Richard R

4)   We have been driving a 1.9 tDI Jetta since 2006 and we haven't had any major problems with it. And we drive a lot! - Lizzard

5)   Take care of it and it will run forever ! just be aware the particulate filters in the new turbo diesels are about $3k to replace ! - mr VR6

6)   All your previous answers are good however the turbo will last around 150,000 + before needing replacing , the engine itself if looked after will do 300,000 easy - Barking_Dog

1)   No cars engine is that great after 100K, though i guess I would say german cars may be a little better, but super expensive to repair. (Unless its a diesel version which can run for like 300K+ miles) - Mike Kaczmarek

3)   My 1996 had 192k when the transmission decided it was time to retire. The engine was still strong ass hell. The little 2.slow never gives up. - Nick

4)   a VW 2.8 V6 can do 300000 miles if synthetic oils are used and the cam belt and water pump are changed at the right intervals, you can even change the bearings, oil pump , piston rings etc without taking the engine out of the car and get maybe 400000 miles - Harley Drive

Question 5
Is replacing an oil pan in a 2003 jetta vr6 difficult?...  And what does it intale?

Answers
1)   No, just the pan bolts and possibly a small shield and a cross member. Once you are under the care you will see what is necessary. don't worry about removing subframe connectors because they will not hurt the car. It will just take a little time because jettas are time consuming. - Jonathan D

2)   Nope, just like the other guy said.

Now would be a good time to go ahead and replace the pan gasket. It's cheap. - Nick

3)   i just wanted to chime in about the gasket. you NEED to replace it if your removing the pan (and gently scrape its remains off the block), or you will most likely leak after your done. - skittlz
