1)   right on the engine block. - just one more thing.......

Question 4
Wind picking up a Classic VW Bug?...  OK Help me settle an argument.
My friend says his dad was driving a VW Beetle( He does not know the year) Down the mountains and it was pretty wind he says ( not Tornado, or hurricane windy But windy none the Less). HE CLAIMS the wind lifted it up only like two or three feet and almost made him fly off the road/mountain
IS this possible or just bull shit?
SIDE NOTE the weight of a 67 VW beetle is about 1900Lbs

Another question
He also claims two people can lift a Fully stock beetle(with the engine inside it) off the ground.

Answers
1)   There are those that can lift 1000 lbs. But often we just jacked up one end and support the other end which meant that each of us only had to lift about 500 lbs. So yes, two people can lift a bug off the ground by themselves.
As for being two to three feet off the ground, when you are air-born, 6" can feel like three feet. Under the right circumstances a bug can get 3" to 6" of air.
Don't fault your friend, he just believes his dad, and should not be faulted for his dads exaggerations. - Old Man Dirt

2)   Funny! To me it's just one of those those stories that it's best to not examine too closely. Just say, "Wow! That's CRAZY!" Then, you have been appropriately amazed, but you haven't committed to actually believing it. If a sudden gust caused him to over-correct, it might have seemed like at least two of his tires were off the ground, and he sure would have felt completely out of control.

As to the other story, it depends on a lot of factors. Do they mean one on each end, and picking the car completely off the ground? I guess there are some people who could do that, so it's at least possible. If all he means is picking it up from the front bumper, then it's not that tough at all. We were parked in by one at a concert, and with a few friends, we were able to lift the front off the ground, and move it over enough to get our around it.

Anyway...

What do you have to gain by arguing this? It sounds like a way to undermine a friendship for no real purpose. - The Freak Show

3)   old bugs are light in the front but its very very unlikely that the car lifted off the ground a few feet. i highly doubt this to be a true story - Air-Cooled (o\ ! /o)
