What's the difference between a Jetta GT and just a regular Jetta?

Question 1
What's the difference between a Jetta GT and just a regular Jetta?...
Actually there is a Jetta GT, they just don't seem to be that much of a difference between that and one that is not a GT

Answers
1)   : ) whats up? - SmartieChild

2)   i think the GT is more luxury then the other 1. - bandit_60

3)   GT is more of a "sports" car - liveNlove

4)   powertrain is the same. both 2 litre. more options. they have the smoked tail lights like the glx's and funky interior patterns. - jump454

5)   About 4 thousand bucks - Briano

6)   There is no such thing as a jetta GT. Perhaps you mean GLI? It is a performance model and has BBS wheels, sport seats/interior, body kit, sport suspension and more performance. - Ronald

7)   The Jetta GT hasn't been offered for a number of years; not since the mid to late 1990's. The GT Jetta was a slightly higher trimed model than the GL model, and was slotted price wise between the base GL and the GLS trim level (the GLX was the top trim level that had the VR6 motor as standard equipment).

The GT had the same equipment as the base GL with the exception of the following: fog lights, cloth sports seats, rear spoiler, alloy rims, dark tinted tail light lenses and a rear spoiler. It was otherwise the same as the basic GL model. The GT was attempt by VW to increase sales, during this period VW offered all sorts of odd models:
The Trek Jetta, K2 Jetta etc., which were attempts at offering special models and extras (the Trek had a pair? of bicycles; the K2 had two? pairs of skis and poles).

According to the literature I have available on my shelf (old VW sales, service materials, the last year of the Jetta GT (at least in the USA market) was 1998. In 1998, keyless entry was added as standard on the GT model, it was otherwise the same as the 1997 model.

Hope this answers your question, a car nut. - a car nut

Question 2
Volkswagan Golf 2000. The passenger foot well is soaked?...  why is this? Is it something to do with the aircon unit leaking? It is only on the passenger side. There is also a slightly musty smell?

Answers
1)   Is the door seal intact? - doinou

2)   faulty heater matrix or drain tube, or blocked drain holes in the "scuttle" where the battery etc is - Harley Drive

3)   You can find the related answers in newcars-international.blogspot.com/ - Bala

4)   Seems common and i have seen this asked about on here a lot. the concensus would seem to be that it is the door seals on golfs of this age giving trouble. - Timbo is here

5)   If it has aircon the drain tube can sometimes detach or leak - Timothy L

6)   The water is leaking form the Window regulator plate the seals perish with age letting rain water that normally flows out of the bottom of the door drains into the car.
If you want to replace the hole seal vw do a regulator seal kit for £7.00 inc vat.
You can also just use a good silicone sealant around the lower bottom of the plate as i do on request for some of my customers for a cheap fix.

Here's some Information guide that will explain in detail:

Ps i usually use a wet pick up to suck up most of the water form the carpet plus lift the carpet and clear most from the protective insulation matting as this acts like a sponge.
Once most of the water is removed place Newspaper on the top of the carpet to absorb any remaining water replace the paper on a regular basis until dry. - turboextreme

Question 4
Why is my 2003 VW Polo sometimes difficult to restart when engine is warm?...  Occasionally the engine (1.4 petrol) cuts out in traffic and is then difficult to restart. Also when park in supermarket and go back to it 30 mins later it can also be difficult to start. When stone cold it always starts straight away. Serviced by Skoda garage which can find nothing wrong although computer shows a code that they don't recognise, they say that although Skoda and VW are in the same group VW won't tell them all the codes! VW dealer is a trek away and I find them expensive so would rather have an idea about what could be causing the problem before I resort to going there. Thanks.

Answers
1)   The fact that the charge to read your codes is absurd. Sounds like you're somewhere in the UK so I doubt you have an Auto Zone. They read codes for free.

Call around, someone should do it for free. - Robot

2)   So the fault code is in the ECU ready and waiting for it to be read. This is the only way from the info you have of finding out which of many many possible things is causing the problem. - Timbo is here

3)   it sounds like your engine is running rich, in other words too much fuel and not enough air is being supplied. most decent garages will be able to work this out. If it starts ok when cold but not when hot, then maybe the choke is on all the time. The problem with garages is they don't use expertise any more, they use the code reader, which is almost useless in cases like this. Can you smell petrol when you try to start it?, if so this is problem. The EMU may need to be replaced to fix this issue, some are available refurbished, which may be cheaper. - radioguyuk

4)   I would replace the Coolant sensor as these are always causing starting issues on these engines. The sensors have split 2 way circuits one sends a temperature reading to the ecu the other controls the temperature gauge. It common for the ecu part of the sensor to fail so when the engine is warm the Ecu thinks the engine is cold and floods the engine with fuel causing starting issues like you describe.

The intermittent stalling is Caused by a Defective fuel pump relay these give out random unrecognisable fault codes.
There is a modified relay available with the same part code from Vw to sort the stalling issue.

Dealer spec parts are also available from euro parts stores around the country:

Coolant sensor: (these comonly fail on Golf tdi/ petrols also)

5)   Any garage worth its salt should be able to read the fault codes, no matter who the manufacturer. Sounds like they can't be bothered. I'd go elsewhere. - Bardic

Question 5
why are there so many volkswagens for sale?...  every site i go i find 100s of vw's. much more that any other car. pretty good prices too. what happened? did the value of vw's all of the sudden dramatically decrease for some reason?

Answers
1)   they are crappy car to begin with. when stuff breaks people dont want to fix they just want to sell and get a new car. - edya19

2)   UMM IDKKK - weezybaby

3)   wow edya19 is not so smart and he probably drives a honda... people are scared of working on German cars because they are so complex but its not really that complex once you start to learn about them..also it depends on the year ever since 99 they have been getting better and the 09-2010 models are very reliable. - veedub514

4)   There are a lot of new exciting models, VW tends to have younger buyers that always want the newest models so they trade their cars in every 2-3 years. Also a lot of them are lease trade in's. I don't know why you think there are a lot of VW's for sale though, have you seen how many honda's Toyota's Chevy's, etc there are for sale? Who cares? - Ronald
