Top Gear vs Fifith Gear.?

Question 1
Top Gear vs Fifith Gear.?...  Whats your favourite?

Answers
1)   Top Gear best for entertainment.
Fifth gear better for more down to earth cars and Vicki Butler Henderson.

They are two different types of programme united by the fact that for part of them they deal with cars. I do not see them as competitors, just different. Not even on at the same time. On UK Gold they are often on one after the other! - Timbo is here

2)   Top Gear by a country mile. - bob m

3)   Top gear is my favourite car magazine. Don't know much about fifth gear. - ANITA S

4)   There are bits I like in both programmes and I find it difficult to make a realistic choice. TopGear has started to annoy me because of the boring interaction between the three presenters for it is the cars I want to see not them. - roger.williams20@btinternet.com

5)   Top Gear - they give 'information' about cars in a fun way. My Mum can follow what's going on.

Fifth Gear is dry and very very very boring. - k

6)   Top Gear all the way funny and up front, love it. - bobbage

7)   Top Gear FTW! - djaca70

8)   fifth gear all the wayyyyyy, top gear hey just mess around, fifth gear actually informs you - lambo11293

9)   Have to go with both, couldn't miss either!

Although, must confess that the older TopGear in it's unadulterated form was better. - Octy a.k.a Octane★97

Question 2
How do I prevent engine fires on my 1973 VW bus?...  It's an air cooled engine. Do I just need to check to make sure it has enough water?

I went to a VW forum but they were useless as they just lead me to a thousand other links that I would have to search through when I would just like a quick answer.

Thanks!
ok I will for sure make sure I don't drive in places that don't have air.

Answers
1)   Just make sure to avoid driving in places that do not have air. - mrhymer

2)   doesnt require water/only oil and make sure fan belt is attached - ken k

3)   most of the vw fires are due to the gas line separating from the carb, a quick fix is to take the gas line off and take the nipple that goes into the carb and take it out and put the other end into the carb and attach the fuel line and you are done - bayareart1

4)   Make sure it is always full of oil and that the alternator charge light works. If it throws a belt, the charge light will turn on so you know to STOP. The cooling fan is attached to the alternator so if it throws a belt, the engine is no longer getting cooled.
As far as VW fires, they are generally caused by old cracked fuel lines. Mainly the fuel line going from the tank to the fuel pump. The line goes from a hard line to a rubber line just behind the engine. Where the two join, the rubber hose cracks and squirts fuel onto the #3 cylinder (runs the hottest) and catches on fire. I like to double wrap the rubber fuel line with a larger diameter line to keep the fuel line from getting hot and brittle. I also regularly check the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb. It gets very hot in the engine bay and the rubber will dry out and crack.

As far as water, it dies not have a radiator and is not a water cooled engine. To help keep the engine cool, an aftermarket oil cooler will help. - Rod Knocker

2)   A4 has different gear ratios than the Passat. - djaca70

3)   i think the a4 will be faster because it is lighter than the passat and does not waste too much petrol/diesel.

get an audi - fast-and-furious-4-dodge-camaro

4)   In ideal conditions, the passat will be faster, since it has less drivetrain friction than the quattro system.

In less than ideal conditions....the A4 quattro will be faster, because it can utilize the most of the available tire traction. - cant_think_of_1
