6)   This varies from state to sate. If the state charges you on the value of the car, you can see if you are being over charged. the DMV in most states will take the high KBB of the car and then charge you tax on that. SO lets say your VW is worth 12500 and you are being taxed 15% your taxes would come out to be $1875. now if your state goes of a uniform fee, you would pay the same price as a like car of the same year. so if your friend has a 05 sedan, and you have an 05 sedan, you would both pay the same rate. 6)   p3200 you need to look up the word obsolete... there more manufactuerers for beetle parts world wide than there are for any one car in the world. further more there are more running driving beetles out there than any one car make. what other car company has made a car that was so successfull that they sold over 9 million? Or sold the same make 60+ years. more old men than teenagers actually own them too.

2003 Passat Wagon -Strange?...  I received a letter in the mail stating something about my coils need to be fixed and that if the MIL light comes on to call the dealer to get replaced. The MIL light came on and I called the dealer and he said it is nothing to worry about unless the car starts sputtering. He told me to wait until I get the next letter. Another issue is the deck interior lights (the ones that help you see the speedometer) do not come on when I start the car. I have to shut off and start again before the lights come on. In addition, when I open my car door and get out with the motor still running, the warning sound is the sound of asystole. Lastly, when I am in a stopped position, my RPM is at 15 RPM (even when the car is in park). What do you think is wrong with my car?

3)   Its a voluntary recall by VW. Minor incident actually. It involves the emissions. So in the interests of clean air they are replacing the ignition coils in cars that are affected.
When they get enough parts on hand sent to dealers, they will send another letter.
As to your other woes, IMO just time-related issues common for a 7 year old car. You can have them checked if you take your car in for its next service. Might be something simple as a fuse or it could cost $$ .
Or you could just live with them.
On another note, many people bash dealers; I do not . My local VW dealer is kind, time-conscious, prices are reasonable, and they do it right the 1st time . With a guarantee. - fenton

4)   1. find another dealer to deal with your recall notice. obviously your dealer is "unscrupulous" No reputable dealer, or service station, would advice you NOT to come in for service when the MIL light is on.

2. the lights.... i don't know, if you were my customer with that problem I would tell you that you'd have to leave the car with me so that I would have time to diagnose that problem

3. IDK whats an asystole

4. idleing at 1500 rpm could be cause by a faulty IAC, TPS, or just a computer glitch. You could try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes and reconnect it, and start then engine MAKING SURE YOU *DO NOT* TOUCH THE GAS PEADAL. If it was a computer glitch, that should resynchronize the computer to your TPS (throttle position sensor). - p3200tmz
