Answers
1)   Depends on if I am getting paid and how much. - montezuma300

2)   Sure, why not. Only insecure people are afraid of stuff like that. - Fred

3)   If the driver was a hot looking girl, sure. - William W

4)   Sure, I wouldn't even have a problem driving it.

But would I ever own one? No way.... - chris2EM

5)   i am not afraid of pink, but being seen in a bug?yes id have to be caught and still wouldnt admit it was me.parlevous francois? - idontgivafork

6)   I would have said yes until I saw the picture. If it were a classic bug, there would not be a problem. I have been planning on painting my buggy frame pink and the side panels black. That way if I get beat down the sand drags I could say "What do you expect, it is a pink buggy", but if I smoke someone else down the drags I could say "Ha! You just got beat by a pink buggy". It works out well either way!

I would not ride or drive in a new beetle regardless of the color. - Rod Knocker

Question 2
what year did the vw bettle come out?...

Answers
1)   the older model was in Germany in the 1950's
It didn't get to the US until 1962
The new model was released in 1998 - Alfonzo

2)   Originally in Germany , about 1936 . I bought a VW beetle about 1960 and it was used so I guess they came out in America about 1950 , but people were still reluctant to buy them because they were German - Anthony

3)   1936 - Dre

4)   Original came out of German plant called Type 1. -that has been the name for the air cooled model right up till the last model produced. But 1939 in Germany with the recognizable shape.
Came on this side of the pond in 1953, though the oldest I have seen is '55.
The term "beetle or bug" was a slander put toward the German car by the British car makers who dominated the foreign car export market to North America.
That slander was their "last laugh" as it actually helped sales. - the Horses Butt

Question 3
Can I put a VW Beetle's motor in a 1962 Corvair?...  Hello, I saw a pic of a VW Beetle with a Corvairs motor in it.. So I wondering.. Is it possible to put a VW's motor in a Corvair? I have a 1962, Thanks. Post for anymore details.

Answers
1)   The engine from a VW sits upright, whereas the Corvair lays down flat - the only way to do it would be without a hood, if it even would fit - not 2 B fooled

2)   There are adapters to bolt a Corvair to a V-Dub,but not the other way 'round.Know why? Because they rotate in opposite directions. The VW rotates clockwise and the Corvair was anti-clockwise.To make the Corvair to VW swap work, you had to swap the ring gear in the trans to the other side. Corvairs are way cool, they were called "The poor mans Porsche".Most parts are still available for these cars.If you have the original engine, why not rebuild it? Hope this helps,Good Luck. - Auto A/C Guy

3)   The original Beetle used a FLAT four like the Corvair's FLAT six engine. the swap is probably not much more difficult than putting the Corvair's engine in a Beetle, as long as you're not talking about a New (not really a) Beetle, except you'd have to make your own adapters, because I doubt anyone has ever swapped the much less powerful Beetle engine into the bigger, heavier Corvair, since you usually do an engine swap for MORE power - cat

4)   With money, it is possible, but not recommended.
The VW engine is flat just like the corvair as long as you use a pancake style housing.
The reason you see bugs with corvair engines is the corvair has a lot more power and 2 more cylinders. If you want a 4 cylinder in your corvair, find a Toyota 22r, Ecotec, Pinto or some other small 4 banger. A VW would more or less be a waste of time and money. - Rod Knocker

Question 4
why does my 2003 VW TDI have air in the fuel system?...  When I try to start my car in the morning (or after it's been sitting for >8 hours), I have to hold the key over and stomp on the gas pedal. Eventually, it roars to life with a big cloud of blue smoke out the tailpipe, and then generally runs fine all day and with each consecutive start. I run my car on biodiesel (B99), but sometimes have to put regular diesel in it (like on road trips and in cold weather). This problem started In January and nobody has been able to fix it! I've replaced the fuel filter, the glow plug assembly and relay, the pick-up in the fuel tank, and even put a pump adjacent to the injector to try and deliver sufficient fuel to the engine when starting: still, the same problem. One mechanic finally noticed that there's air in the fuel line (a LOT of it), but why and where the air leak is located remains a mystery. There's no engine light on, but something isn't right. Is it related to switching back and forth between fuels and/or a "bad/dirty" fill-up somewhere? Regardless, how can I trace the air leak and what else should I be checking? A little help please?! Thanks!

Answers
1)   air can get in the system in 3 ways, (Some of the work you have done may have contributed to it.) running it completely out of fuel, not priming the fuel filter prior to install. Not priming injectors prior to install. Other then a leak in the system there is no other way for air to enter the system. you may want to check the bio conversion and make sure it does not have a leak somewhere. - gearnofear

2)   since air in the fuel system can only get there by Fuel leaking out and you would have noticed a leak it seems that it may be a by product of the bio=fuel? giving of a gases as it stands in fuel system.
there should also be a one way valve in system to ensure no fuel drain back so it may be a faulty Fuel pump etc.
a full vehicle diagnostic check should pinpoint this but as with any 'mix' of hybrid systems where an original system has been altered it may not pick up any faults that are part of the biofuel system unless it is specifically set up to do so. - chris at hornchurch

3)   You need to find out if the air is entering before or after the Filter.

I have had the fuel line leak at the banjo fittings the copper washers probably need replacing.

I have also had the main fuel line from the filter to the injection pump leak at the hose to brass fitting. - Briano

4)   Honestly it doesn't sound like air to me. If your refering to air in the clear line from the fuel filter to the fuel injection pump up on the front of the engine, it's always going to look like air bubbles in there. Im thinking your dynamic fuel pump timing is off..Basically your car is too lean electronically.. You would need a scan tool go into engine electronics measure value block zero...looks at fields 2 and field 9...those 2 numbers are the actual fuel pump timing..there is a graph where you compare those 2 numbers to each other and get them to meet in the middle..to make the numbers more, your going to have to loosen the 3 bolts (13mm) on the fuel pump and turn it accordingly...also just a note, the car needs to be cool to do this correctly..hope this helps.. - runvws

Question 5
Is there an aux port In my jetta?...  I would like to know if there is a aux port in a 2003 Jetta GLI so i can listen to my ipod. Also i have a tape player, and i have the tape player adapter, but whenever i plug my ipod to listen to it, the sound quality isnt as great as a cd. is there any way i could enhance the quality of the sound coming through the tape adapter from my ipod?

Answers
1)   you could buy a head unit with an aux - shuman57

2)   you need to buy a new headunit. this stock monsoon doesnt have an aux port. - Lionel

3)   If you want to improve the sound quality, don't use the tape adapter, you'll need to have an auxiliary port added to your system. In the aftermarket you can purchase adapters that will work with the factory radios to allow the Ipod input. Sites like installer.com can provide you with the adapters needed to make this work. Search the web and you'll find various adapters that will work with your radio.

Hope this helps, a car nut. - a car nut
