Question 2
Who has a jetta or has had?...  I am going to be a new driver, and I wanted to get a car that is not only good on gas, but a good car overall. I wanted to know if anyone knew if a like say 2000 jettta would be a good car?

I found one that I liked which I emailed the seller, but it has 142,000 miles on it.

Answers
1)   Nope, keep trying.

Of course, if you want to make friends with a Euro car mechanic really soon and quite often, be our guest.

Hint: Used Euro cars = junk. - alfredb1979

2)   I have had 3 Jettas, none of which are the same year or style as yours, but I have has a 1984 Jetta diesel, 1997 Jetta GL and at 1998 Jetta GT and I have to say they are excellent on gas, fun to drive, and definitely should be on the top ten of the most reliable cars in the world. Germans have it right :) - Mike

3)   Don't pay attention to the haters. As with any car, it all depends on the shape of the car and not just the milage. Ask for some maintenance records, do a car fax history, or pay to have the car checked over by somebody you trust. An educated decision is always the best decision. - runvws

4)   I have a friend that owns a 2001 Jetta with 130k reliable miles on it.
My wife has a 2005 Jetta with 82k dependable, never-let-us-down miles on it.
However, any car with 142k on it will at some point have to have parts replaced [even if its a Rolls-Royce , Lexus etc.].
IMO, look for a lower mileage Jetta or Golf/Rabbit.
We will keep our Jetta for a long time. We trust it that much. - fenton

Question 3
My car uses more fuel than the specs I've found. VW Golf 5 2.0 comfortline.?...  The specs say it's uses 8.5 litres per 100 km in urban areas, but my on board computer says I'm using 9.9l/100 km.

It's not like a rev the hell out of my car all the time.

Is this a serious problem ? Should I get it checked out ? Car is still under warranty and has recently been serviced.

Answers
1)   What you're looking at are simply averages or results from some specified test profile, not guaranteed specifications. Traffic might be heavier in your area with more time spent idling than average and traffic moving more slowly. Most probably there is nothing wrong with your car. - Howard L

2)   Urban areas vary tremendously. The spec is for a pre-determined journey. Yours may involve more traffic lights, road works, traffic jams, lower speeds, lower temperatures, higher temperatures, poorer driving techniques etc etc.

Compare the figures for the steady 56 mph to judge whether you are far out. - Johnka

3)   When ever you see fuel ratings for cars and trucks made by the EPA they are just a rough idea for the consumer they are not intended to be 100% accurate. - Scott W

4)   your not driving on a test track
you dont have your car hook to a machine
your not using same fuel
not testing it same way they did not going to get same might get close but it depends on
how you drive it
where you drive it
what type of fuel you use
what one person gets in mileage and what another one might get is a avg mile per gallon can be much as 10 / 20 miles different more or less - kelly_f_1999

Question 4
Do All Turbo Cars Come Stock With a Wastegate/Diverter Valve?...  Vw GTI MKV

Answers
1)   no not all cars come stock with the blow off valve. alot of the normal cars that come stock turbod dont come with them but some like the evo or other sport tuned cars (really tuned!) do come with them. - hector

2)   yes all cars do have bov they need them or it wouldnt have a turbo - larry g

3)   Turbos have to have a wastegate--- cycling the wastegate controls boost.

Diverter Valve--- no. Diesels don't have a Diverter valve. There is no throttle body to close. So that is the exception.

the MKV GTI 2.0T doesn't really have a true diverter valve. It allows air space (increased volume) for when the throttle valved is closed properly so the air can go somewhere. It does not have a passage to back to the intake like a true DV, ie like on a 1.8t - cant_think_of_1

Question 5
Can I switch a diesel VW Superbeetle to bio diesel?...  And if so...how would I go about that?Is there a kit or do I have to do some major mods?Is this something I could do at home myself?

Answers
1)   sure you can, but you'll need to change out all the seals, because they have been conditioned on diesel #2--- if you don't. Expect massive leaks in the fuel system - cant_think_of_1

2)   You put the bio-diesel in the tank. No conversion is necessary. Ask your dealer service department - cat

3)   bio diesel should be degreased already, it's SVO that you have to filter and run special heaters on the injectors...some owners run a seperate tank so they can switch back and forth.. - SVOMAN
