I need a short distance commuter car. Something very inexpensive, decent gas mileage and easy to repair. Ideas?...  I have $800 to spend. I was thinking a VW Bug would be a good car. Any other suggestions?

whats the cheapest volkswagon?...  i want a volkswagon very, very, bad .
but it's my first car, so my grandparents are only going to pay so much for it .
i wanted a 1979 convertable, but i fear those are very exspensive . (if you can find one.)

Does anybody know why people hit each other when they see a VW beetle?...  I've been doing it since i was little but how did the hitting start?

2)   Slug bug started when an autistic young lad who barely spoke ever screamed "bug" over and over at his brother when he saw a VW beetle. Apparently he was a fan. The only way the normal brother could get the autistic kid to stop was to slug him in the teeth. The autistic kid associated the action with the punching, and every time he saw one he would say it and punch his brother in the teeth before his brother had a chance to hit him.
