Question 2
At any time did Porsche 911 share a chassis with the VW Beetle, I am working with 2 people who think so?...
Do they still continue to "borrow" or do you guys know when the last time this happened

Answers
1)   yes - ladystang

2)   yes as the designer/engineer of Porsche was the son of the designer/engineer of the beetle so he just "borrowed" his dads idea - Matthew W

3)   Yes, it was the Porsche 356 Speedster. - Derrick S

4)   THE PORSCHE CAYENNE, THE AUDI Q7 AND THE VW TOURAEG ARE BUILT ON THE SAME PLATFORM. - mchaz60

5)   No...not with the 911. The earlier Porsche 356, and the Speedster might have shared allot of parts including the chassis. But I believe the more modern 911 did not. The 914 did share all its parts with VW. A lot of its parts are stamped VW. - dewhatulike

Question 3
how to install turbo on vw vr6?...  hi i have a vw passat vr6 and im wondering how much is to install a turbo and what else is it need to run the turbo please let me know thank you so much

Answers
1)   haha dont bother
youre probably looking 2000$ range installed - 89 z71 step side 6'' lif

2)   Installing a turbo, and making it work both properly and reliably, is not a quick nor cheap process.

I suggest you read up on turbo installations and what needs to be done to the cooling, fuel, and electronics systems on the engine as well upgrading the suspension and brakes to handle the additional power of a turbo.

A turbo installation and tuning will run you into the thousands for just the engine alone. - Bandit-05

3)   If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it.

It would also help to tell us what year your car is... - Josh

4)   A turbo runs off the exhaust so all you need to do is find a kit made for your car. Most kits run $2000 to $3000 plus the cost of installation. - uthockey32

Question 4
hey have a 2007 vw sharan 1.9tdi with climate control heating. the problem is that the windows can just fog?...

Answers
1)   Then it is not working as it should. Air con should demist in about 5 minutes. It probably needs re-gassing. Some garages offer it at a fixed price. - Bazza

2)   Change the pollen filter - its wet. - PHIL B

3)   You may have a leak on your heater matrix and the condensation is a mix of antifreeze. Check the coolant level, if it drops that is your problem - L G

4)   If the A/C is functioning properly and the climate control is set to defrost or defog, you should not have this problem. Make sure the climate control is not set to economy whereby the A/C is automatically turned off. You can also try cleaning all the interior windows with a glass cleaner. This may help prevent the windows from fogging up in the future. - David

Question 5
Looking to add second oil pressure switch to air cooled 1776cc engine, how?...  I put an electronic fuel pump on my air cooled vw engine, and at the same time added a 3 way pressure switch to the area where the original oil pressure switch was installed. The 3 way switch is HIGHLY recommended when adding a electonic fuel pump. The 3 way switch provides power to the pump when it gets the starter feed (power sent from starter when starting car) and also from the ignition when the pressure switch is pressurizes. Basically it send power through the switch when the engine case has 3-4 psi or more. The reason you really need the 3 way switch is to cut off he fuel pump if the engine stalls from let's say a ruptured fuel line and the pump will stop as well. If you did not hook this up, the fuel line would rupture, the car would stall, and the fuel pump would pump fuel all over the engine and exhaust. Wammo, car-b-que. So the problem is that I had to take out the original one pin oil pressure switch from the original area to put the replacement switch. The replacement does not ground out the wire like it should when you lose PSI. Is there another area I can istall the old pressure switch? Another port, or any other suggestion? I have put a block off plate over the area where the manual fuel pump was installed, and I thought of putting it there, but I was told that there is no pressure in that part of the engine. You can apparently install an air breather there if you want. Anyway, any thoughts on what to do to get the regualr switch and dummy light back to working? Thanks Chris
It's actaully not a lot more stuff to go wrong, it's less. Now the fuel lines don't have to go through the fan shroud and back out, you can take our the ugly manual fuel pump, and put a Billet cover (really makes the engine look nice). You cut into the fuel line and add the pump and wire it in. It's all beem done and helps alot. I used to go a month or two (sometimes even longer) with out starting it. THe fuel up the carbs would be either eveporated, or not be primed. You would either pump the accelorator and try and start it to get the gas back into the carbs, but that really take a toll on the starter. I takes a lot of tries for me. The other option was pouring fule or quickstart doen the carb to get it to run and the pump to start building the line pressure. Now with the electric, if I turn on the key and the fuel is evaporated, or line pressure low, the electonic pump comes on for a second and the car starts right up. You could leave it for a year and turn the key and vroom
now that everything is beautiful and perfect, I just want to hook up my dummy light and switch. That port is taken with my new switch, so I need to find a place to mount the 1 pin oil switch into the engine. THere is nothing wrong with dual carbs and fuel pmp. jusr make sure it the right one for high performance dual carb set-up. It will notice if the carbs are starving on floored throttle and pump more fuel instantly right away. It's actually recommeneded by dual carb manufacturers. Just do it right so your car will never burn in a fire.
with the stock fuel pump you are actually at more risk for fires. There was a study done on vw's and 50% of air cooled VW engines pulled over on the freeway is fire, the other 50% was out of gas, broken peice (accelerator cable, etc) and tires. Of the 50% that were from fire is due to gas. Of that 50% over 3/4 were from manual fuel pumps and the lines running through the dog houses getting cut, and other reasons and the other 1/4 were from electroinc fuel pums WITHOUT THE # PRONG SAFETY SWITCH INSTALLED. No kept the fuel line pumping fuel from a elec pump when hooked up correctly. It will not pump unless the engine is running. You know how small the 1 prong switch is, I just need a port in the engine to run it in to.

Answers
1)   WOW all that for a fuel pump. please save your carbs and put the stock pump back on. that is a lot going wrong with a simple engine just put an adjustable oil pressure regulator where the pressure spring is and loose all the wires.

and add a oil pressure gauge you'll be just fine - Jarod C

2)   What was wrong with the stock fuel pump?
With it you don't have to worry about having a car-b-que. - dewhatulike

3)   Just put a brass T fitting in, so you can run both - onlyoldiron4me
