What's causeing my headlight to burn out in my 2000 jetta gls?

Question 1
What's causeing my headlight to burn out in my 2000 jetta gls?...

Answers
1) If it is a new battery and burns out there could be two issues. 1) your light bulb casing is not firmly in place after you install, and it rattles around when you drive, causing it to burn out. Kind of like flicking a light bulb with your finger. You hit it hard enough, it goes out. 2) your light bulb is getting too much power from the power source causing it to go out. In this case, you should consult a mechanic. - T Diddy
2) Daytime running lights.

You can disable them by:

1. Remove headlight switch by pushing on the knob & then turn right.
2. Remove connector
3. Locate TFL pin
4. Tape over the pin or bend the pin down
5. Reinstall - cant_think_of_1

Question 4
I have a 1997 VW Jetta. A couple weeks ago my car wouldnt start...?...  I used jumper cables and tightened the battery connections or terminal , i don't know exactly what its called, and it started just fine. The car ran perfectly fine until about a week ago, so i just bought a new battery...had to tighten the terminals really tight so it can start cause they are a little corroded. Now the car won't start, but i jumped it and it started again, it is not the alternator since i turned if off and started it again. Is it definitely the terminals , and how do i clean them?

Answers
1) Go to the Autoparts store of your choice, and buy a battery terminal cleaner, a can of Permatex Battery terminal Corrosion preventer, and a can of Permatex Battery terminal cleaner.

Remove your battery cables off the battery

Spray your battery terminals and cables with the cleaner, let it work till it stops foaming. Then spray again.

Wipe the terminals and the cables off, Use the battery terminal cleaner to clean the metal (LEAD) shiney.

Reattach the cables to the terminals. Shake the Protector and then spray the Battery Cable/terminal connection. - Briano

Question 5
can PD impound your car for exhaust?...  I was pulled over this morning. The PD said it was my exhaust - which is not uncommon for me. He also said he could impound my car if I had ever had a fix-it for this reason? Is this correct? I have had a fix-it ticket about 4-5 years ago and had it signed off/paid in full with no corrections made. Can they actually impound a car as he said? I was told by a few that this is not true, but I do not want to take any chances either since it was so close to home... And I drive this area often. I have a car that PD likes to tag as trouble...

Answers
1) if the cop can reasonably show that your car 'could be' a hazard then yes he can very easily impound it.

If you have an exhaust system problem it could cause excessive noise
or lousy emissions, or even be unsafe to drive because of fumes inside the car...

all of these conditions is not safe, so for your own good he could very easily impound it. - overnightdeejay
2) Probably not; you can call their office number and ask anonymously...maybe it's time to change or fix the exhaust to eliminate the problem of continued traffic stops; they are only doing their job :} - not 2 B fooled
3) not that i know off.. unless you aren't paying your tickets... doing anything stupid like speeding,,. Ive gotten many fix it tickets in my area too on my old integra...
from cali also...

Just do rev to high.. when u see a cop through it into neutral and cost lol - kyle
