1)   They shouldn't be noisy if they're new. Check that your windscreen is clean and doesn't have something sticky on there, it could also be caused by them being put on at a slightly wrong angle. - Derek B

2)   As above, make sure your windscreen is nice and clean first of all. Make sure the wipers are fitted securely and correctly. I've used lots of wiper makes before, and the cheaper ones to tend to be noisy unfortunately. I've consistently found Bosch to be the absolute best of the best. Very quiet, keep the screen clear and they last a long time aswell. Well worth the price! =) - John

3)   1. Clean windshield as others have mentioned. Bon Ami is like soft scrub but extremely gentle (good cleaner)
2. Bosch & Valeo are good blades to use
3. Avoid Rain-X, and other windshield treatments, even OE VW washer fluid w/ Rain-Repellant can make it noisy, chattery & skip. - cant_think_of_1

4)   White vinegar on a soft cloth can remove unseen dirt and diesel from the wipers and windscreen. In most cases you will see a lot of black gunge on the cloth when you have finished. - ------------------

Question 3
What is the crackling sound from my 2000 VW Beetle?...  When I go in reverse my car makes a crackling sound (like smashing a aluminum can) from underneath on the passenger front side, what could this be?

1)   its the c-v joints needs to be replace - T

2)   How is your hydraulic? If its ok please check with your cylinder head or steering pump. Suffered a similar problem last weekend in my VW Golf 3 after hitting a pot hole on my way after droping a kid to school.

3)   Something is dragging on the ground. Get outside the car and take a look. Exhaust is loose? Not necessarily the passenger side, but sound travels funny in cars. Definitely not right. Get it looked at right away by any mechanic.
While it may be CV's it is more noticeable when you make a hard turn to the right or left. They got to be done right away. And it does not sound like aluminum cans, but it is not a good sound(considering there should be "no sound" - Lam Sanders

my vw golf will not start!?...  i was driving my 1.4 00 vwgolf yesterday when the accellaror stopped working. it was as if no petrol was getting to it. since then i have tried to start it but it will not start. there is a good spark but it will not start. any one got any ideas what might be wrong?

2)   Hi Mariam
Check if you have gas in the car. If the car tries to start strong but it doesn't catch, most likely your fuel injection is gone. It could also be your battery. The best way to check that is to turn your head lights on, and try to start. If your head lights dimm, then it might be your battery. - David
