how about not get a volkswagon. get a BMW instead if you want a german car. even a Fiat or Saab is better.

I had a co-worker who drove a Passat and he loved it. He was getting close to 50mph in his car. I don't have a VW but I like the Passat's style over the Jetta.

Jetta... its my 1st car and its my baby!! passats r crap my cousins from mexico have had like 20 of them....bad deal.... Get a VR6 like mine!!! ;)

The Passat is much classier and more comfortable that the Jetta.

Reliability is the same for both cars, and they share a lot of technology and parts.

Jettas are a lot less expensive, and there are more replacement parts available for older models, which makes the Jetta cheaper to repair.

My hubby has owned the following:

2000 1.8T Jetta
2005 1.8T Passat
2009 Jetta SE

To be honest, he has loved all 3 of these vehicles. The Passat was roomier of course, but his brand new Jetta is a pretty sweet ride for $244/month!

All 3 have been very reliable as well.

nope, i have two gear boxes from a kombi though, one is in my buggy the other one is a spare. i wouldn't be seen dead driving a beetle.

Yep.. I have a little '71 beetle that I restored from scratch. I get more smiles and hellos in that thing then I ever did with my detroit iron.

I drive a 64 Type 1 (beetle) everyday 20 miles back and forth to work. Its fun to drive and its fun to work on. I love the car and would not trade it for anything in the world.

Welfare programs will often match a down payment for vehicles if it will improve your life and help you take care of yourself and be less government dependent. If you are disabled or on a fixed or low income I would call and ask. Its worth a shot

Why does it matter if it is a women's car, as long as it drives well with a great engine and it handles well, i'll be happy to take it. And be happy your getting a 1 year old car for you first car, mine was a 10 year old honda. A mazda miata is a women's car and it handles like an f1 car, i'll be happy to own that car. So it dosen't really matter

my little bros got a bug with a 1.8 turbo they should be the same you may need to change the head and wring it will be a pain

What year are we talking? I assume you mean the older 90-94 Gti 8v? Its a 1.8 and isnt turbo just a little rock solid engine. If thats what your talking about, yes you can, but the kits tend to need a built lower end. Have you done any research on doing the ABA cylinder head mod? You can also do the entire ABA swap, but you will need headers to clear the firewall... anyhow go to www.vwvortex.com and read up on the swaps.

Good Mods for a 2000 Jetta VR6?

Hi, I have a Jetta VR6 and I was just wondering what are some good modifications for it? Really only cosmetic wise, SOME performance though.
My plans(tell me what you think):
19X8.5 Black rims (not sure what brand or anything)
New front mesh grill.
New Head/Tail lights (tint/smoke them?)
Shave all emblems
Lower the car on coilovers
Maybe a front and rear lip? Not a ricey body kit of course.
Definitely new sound system, new deck...some 12's ? :)

Thanks for looking! Tell me what you think I should add to my list or take off! BTW I have a budget of about 3-5k max...maybe more!

This is a basic mod list of my Jetta. Basicaly Stock
~ ACT high performance clutch
~ Brembo Racing Audi brakes
~ VR6 Stage 2 Intake
~ Drops Custom suspention
~ TEIN Springs
~ Custom Yellow Paint
~ Panther 17" Rims with Falken low profile tires

Its a nice 1st car but i plan 2 make some changes to it.... making it more european and less ricer. dont make that mistake with your jetta.
put a badgeless grill and some BBS rims to start off.... AND PLEASE NO FART CANNONS!!!!

ooohhh billy. well if you didnt want it to look like a ricer then you probably chouldnt have gotten a vr6. ha. performance parts. well if your going to drop that much in it then shop arould gor abody kit. you can find a decent color matched one including side skirts, fornt and rear bumper for $800. you atleast need an exhaust upgrade and cold air intake. $400. oooorrrrr you could get a turbo kit for $1500. rediculous hp gain.
