Should I get a 2010 nissan sentra or 2010 VW Jetta?

Question 1
Should I get a 2010 nissan sentra or 2010 VW Jetta?...  I really want a Jetta But I heard they aren't reliable.. The Sentra is kinda similiar to the jetta..
Which is better? and which is more reliable ??

Answers
1)   A Mazda 3 is a better choice than both. The Sentra has been a poor seller for Nissan, and it's reliability is only "average" according to Consumer Reports. The Jetta is average as well, but they get very expensive and unreliable as they age.

Give the Mazda 3 a look. It truly is the best in the segment. - Mike

2)   I was in the same situation as you. I had to chose between the nissan sentra or the VW Jetta. I decided to go for the Jetta due to the fact that you really get more for what you pay for. Yes the Jetta is more expensive, but in the long run it will save you money.

Plus the Jetta looks better! - Christina G

3)   MY choice 2010 VW Jetta

Both are new 2010 cars...so telling you which is more reliable is out. They have both had reliable issues in the past. - jason

4)   Nissan. The VW will eat your wallet a lot sooner. And, you'll get more speeding tickets on any German car because of the lack of feel of speed.

The VW is better on Autobahns, though. However, the Jetta high speed tires don't adhere as well as the Nissan's on 65 MPH roads. - Hello EV world

5)   Stay away from the VW. - Louis R

6)   if you really have to choose between two, go for sentra. they are little more reliable the jetta. - Joe

7)   don't get the jetta. i would go with the sentra. you won't care what the jetta looks like when you are constanly shelling out money for repairs. i have a vw jetta and it is the most unreliable car i have ever owned. i am constantly having problems with it and the repairs are not cheap either. i don't even want to get into all of the problems i have had with it but if you look online there are so many vw owners with serious problems. i would go with a nissan sentra. - noname

Question 2
Is the 2007 Volkswagen passat a reliable car ?...

Answers
1)   No sir, miss, or other. Used VWs need to be avoided due to transmission issues over 40k. - Theneelster

2)   my friend used to drive 2009 passat and it was full of problems. I would choose japanese cars, they tend to be more reliable. - Joe

3)   I'm happy with my 99 jetta with 112k miles - TravisaKaBiggie

4)   I have a 2007 2.0TDI Sport - 73k miles.

Excellent car, very comfortable, drives well.

Downside - silly electronic parking brake, no hatchback available.

As for reliable Japanese cars - try calling Mr Toyota!! - Big Dick

5)   my volkswagen jetta 1.8t is the least reliable car i have ever driven. i would never get another vw. i have a new problem with it every week. i bought it used and after the first month i got it, it needed a new turbocharger. then the water pump failed so that had to be replaced along with all the timing belts and pulleys. right now i am dealing with a failed ecm. this means that i can't open my trunk, windows, sunroof. i can't adjust my power mirrors and i have no interior dome lights. i also can't use the keyless entry. these repairs are not cheap either. my vw is a pit i keep throwing money into. there are also numerous other repairs that are not even worth getting into. if you decide to get the car, good luck and make sure you have money on hand to fix your repairs. you are going to need it. - noname

Question 4
what is the green light on the speed odometer on a 1972 vw super beetle for?...

Answers
1)   If there is a G next to it then you have generator problem. It could be a loose belt, defunk voltage regulator, or the generator itself.

If it's the green light on the bottom, that the turn signal indicator. - Kenny

2)   i believe the green light is for the rear window defroster. under the dash to the right of the steering wheel is a little black toggle switch. the symbol next to the light should look like an oval-ish rectangle with 3 curly lines inside the rectangle. my 1970 has the rear window defroster, unfortunately it doesnt work - Air-Cooled ACVW

3)   Its for the rear window defroster. Look under the dash, to the left of the steering column for a switch. Clicking that switch on and off should toggle the green light. If you are VERY lucky your defroster will work too.. most stopped working after about 15 years or so when the brown 'paint' began to flake off and the wires corroded in the rear window. If you do not need the defroster, or it does not work, you can wire the switch to whatever you like and the green light will serve as a great indicator.

4)   not absolutely positive but green lights on speedo's usually found on the older cars indicated that the oil pressure was ok the light glows when the ignition is turned on and goes out when engine is running indicating that the oil pressure is ok - David F

Question 5
1967 Volkswagen bus or 1985 Delorean?...  Really want both of these cars.. Cannot make a choice, what would you choose and why???

Answers
1)   The Bus, no competition. The VW Bus is a very rare head turner. They look amazing when they're fully restored. - Garrett

2)   Well they certainly are both time machines , I'll take one of each if you are buying . - sterling m

3)   The stainless steel Delorean is definitely more collectible because of the limited production numbers. But you'll have replacement part issues for that car. (Do you know they went bust because John Delorean was imprisoned for shipping cocaine to America in them?) On the other hand, the VW Micro Bus is a fun vehicle to own. Engine parts are still easy to find, and there are still aftermarket parts made. The camping conversions were cool, with the pop-up top and the roll-out awnings. You'll be able to keep the VeeDub on the road a lot longer. - Junkyard Fox
