Would you trade a 95 integra gsr 5speed sedan (164K) for an 01 Jetta Wolfsburg edition 5speed (117K)?

The GSR has an axel back exhaust and other than that is stock. The Jetta is stock.

keep the integra

No not me. I am a acura man
the pump guy

No way, keep the Integra.
Turbo Joe

The Jetta has 50,000 fewer miles, is nicer, and it 6 years newer. Seems like an easy decision to me.
the_white_knight

I would.
Like a previous poster said, the VW jetta is newer, less KM.

Downside is that it has less power than the Integra, although neither car is really that quick.

I'd probably take the Jetta, but it all comes down to personal preference between Acura and VW.
Sunny

Here are some links to the consumer reviews on these cars.

The Jetta:
http://www.edmunds.com/volkswagen/jetta/2001/consumerreview.html

The Integra:
http://www.edmunds.com/acura/integra/1995/consumerreview.html

It looks like the Integra owners have more positive things to say than the Jetta owners.

Although the Jetta is a newer car, it would be bad to find yourself riding in something that is going to give you problems.

If your car runs fine and the body is in good condition, not rusting, I would keep it and keep looking.

I have always found the consumer reviews at Edmunds to be very helpful, I hope they help you.

Another point that may be helpful in making your decision, I checked the prices on a couple of parts for each one on autozone.com and it looks like the Jetta parts are cheaper. But, who is to say you wouldn't have to buy more parts for it than you would the Acura.

I hope some of this information helps.

Good luck.

I would only becuase the Integra is made for midgets. The Jetta is made for all kinds of people and you can fit 5 persons in it.

more than likely yes easy to go to any parts store or shop say would you listen you my car it sounds funny most anyone would tel you what it might be just ask anyone
kelly_f_1999

It could be the shock absorbers or brakes, you better take it off to the garage to get it checked over.
You may catch a problem before it gets worse and is expensive to correct.
Oliver

Nope, that's just the sound of a P reg Polo... Take it to a mechanic.
The voice of semi-reason

have your mechanic check it out for you
jerry

You say that the noise is even there when you are not moving,so that rules out steering, brakes ,suspension and transmission- fault's So the problem is with the engine and will be associated most likely to something driven by the belt and as you are unable to pinpoint the source of the noise use a microphone ,that is an eighteen inch length of wooden broom handle, rest one end on your ear and put the other end on the units that are being driven to locate the fault.
Zimmer

It could be the water pump bearing, the alternator bearing or the ac. compressor bearing.

I should go with VW tdi... a lots of modification thing and accessories as well..
car guru

The Mercedes. The ride quality is far superior ... every aspect of it, engine acceleration, braking, shock absorbers and sound proofing too.

I got a VW, I followed my instincts and I am in love with it!
Octy a.k.a Octane★97

Get a Jetta TDI and a Jetta Sportswagon TDI for the price of the Mercedes. The VW TDIs retain a lot of their value. You can use the Jetta for work and the Sportswagon for the weekends.

I drive Mercedes and love it but I feel that a new Car is always preferable.
Repairs can become a headache.

VW 1969 Bug, Brake padel got spongy?

Hi, my brakes was fine yday, but when i took my bug today i felt the padel is spongy, even though i push it to the end the brakes wont apply as it use to be. is this is caused by my master pump (wear out washers) or a air bubble trapped inside a line ?

This spongyness was there before also when the first time i step on the padel after 3 or 4 days. but the padel comes up after few strokes and its there. but today it didnt worked that way. If there is any body who have this experience please give me a clue for the problem. thanks in advance.

sounds like the cups in the master cylinder are worn out and its low on fluid. try refilling first and see if they build up. if they do then probably one of the wheel cylinders is leaking your fluid out.
Randy F

air in the lines get ur brakes blead
Gary

Right now you have air in the brake lines and you need to bleed it. After that watch that air do not get trapped again after a short use and the system need to be investigated thoroughly.
kasab

You need to bleed your brakes.
Tyson S

First, check the fluid level. If it's low, add fluid and look for the leak. Low fluid will allow air to enter if you let the master cylinder run dry, and air will enter on the return stroke through the same place the fluid is leaking out.
If it's not low, then you have a worn master cylinder. A worn master cylinder will "pump up" for a while, then when you need it the most, it won't.
They can be easy to replace yourself, but I'd take it to a vw specialist if I were you. The cheaper the parts, the more likely they are to fail. I've had rotten luck with cheap stuff from the big chain stores. From metal shavings in the master to leaking wheel cylinders, all new stuff! If a shop tells you that all the parts are the same, politely agree and leave, find another. Insist on German parts where you can.
Good luck!

2003 VW Bug wont turn on?

My friend brought out her 2003 VW Bug to a party with my family. She asked me to move her car, and when i put the key in it wouldn't let me turn on the car, (as in the lights on the instrument panel wouldnt come on) it took five or six tries to get it to turn on and started. It happened again when she tried to leave. Its never happened before, and she just got the car less than a month ago and has no history of this happening. its a 2003 VW Bug/Beetle with a 2.0L gas engine, and 5-speed tranny. Anyone know what the deal is?

clean the battery posts and connections
Randy F

Looks like something to do with the battery.
Impressive_Instant

like was said check connection and be sure this is happening with a charged battery.

often if it just clicks a few times then starts it is bad contacts on the starter, this is an easy starter rebuild if a kit is available.

in the starter ther are 2 contacts and a disc that is flat that makes contact to the 2 contacts, the thing is one contact will wear faster then the other creating a gap.

not guarnteed this is the problem but google starter rebuilding.

dealer sale or private seller? It could be something wrong with the engine. I go in this honda dealer and a 2007 honda civic with 20 mile and cost $15,000 and I look in the car and test run it, the engine sound weird. So if u buy that car TEST IT OUT FIRST!! or u lose your money
ShadowMuffin

go see it that will tell you everything
jim m

If it is a private seller than I would say BUY IT! It could be that it is paid off and they are just trying to rid of it. When you go to look at it, make sure you test drive it, listen for noises and look to see if there are any warning lights on the dash (i.e. Check engine light). Ask the owner for all maintance receipts.
If it is a dealer selling it then I would say there has to be some kind of catch. Maybe just give the dealer a call and ask why the Jetta is below Kelly Blue Book value.

I hope this helps!!
Kassy B

1. Make sure the car does not have a Salvage title.

2. If it does, check why. If it was only for cosmetic repairs it is a good buy.

3. Get a Carfax Report it is cheap and it would be well worth it.
