2000 VW Jetta 1.8T issue.?

2000 VW Jetta 1.8T issue.?

I was driving my Jetta a couple of months ago. After dropping my fiance off at work, the engine just stopped on me. I still had use of all of my electronics, but the engine just shut down. I have went through a couple of different mechanics and most have told me that they are unsure and really don't want to touch it because it is an ?in line? engine.

Is there anyone that could give me even a small lead, please? I would be forever grateful!
Yes, it did die while driving. I have 83k miles on the meter. The belt is still in tact, the belt turns when I tried to crank it back up, the spark plugs are still getting an arc as I heard them arcing when I tried to crank it back up.

I honestly believe that the timing slipped but not being a professional mechanic, I cannot say so.

Timing belt.

Engine probably still cranks, but without the proper valve operation, you can't get the gas/compression timing correct. So, the engine will not start.

I'm so fed up with my 2000 jetta. I'm ready to just send it to the junk yard.
I can't really help. mine has been a major pain this past year having major electrical/transmission issues. I would take it to a VW dealer and see what they have to say before you let any other mechanic touch it.

HOW IN THE HELL IS A TIMING BELT INTERMITTENT????

GO ANSWER QUESTIONS IN THE HYUNDAI SECTION.......

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING, THAT IT BREAKS AND THEN RE-ATTACHES ITSELF AND FIXES THE BENT VALVES???

YOU CAN"T READ??? """""""DIED WHILE DRIVING"""""

Most likely you have a relay that is failing. Both the fuel pump relay and the main relay next to the Brake Master cylinder are common. Even more common is the fuel pump itself.

Where did you read "died while driving?" You must have ESP. Extra shit perception.

Your attitude in the forum sucks and you should be banned.

By the way, I own a 2001 Jetta. It is more than likely a timing belt. A little more information would be nice, such as mileage, etc. But with the limited information, this would be a likely fault.

HELP!!!! Is it the right oil for VW jetta 2006 TDI !!!!!!?

I changed the oil on my 2006 VW Jetta 1.9TDI last night and used a fully synthetic 0W 40 oil from Mobil 1, this was recomended by a local auto shop but I subsequently herd that it needed to be suitable for PD 3rd generation engines. it says on the drum that it mets VW spec 50200

r best bet is to consult the owner's manual, it will usually say. but you should be fine.
awdwannabe

The manual will tell you what is the right specification of oil for your car. Consult the container and see if it meets or exceeds it.
Timbo is here

I believe the oil needs to meet VW 505.00 or 505.01 I forget which is for the TDi. Check your manual it will say.
uthockey32

it all depends on the length of service interval on your vehicle the pd is for shorter length. VW would recommend the quantum 3 longlife oil anyway as its dearer

5W40 or 5W30 are the right ones to get.

I don't think there is a way to do it without them knowing....
Tina

You cannot as it is an integral part of the vehicles electronics and is also used for ABS, traction and the speedo.
Timbo is here

You can't as it's illegal to drive a car without the mileage working correctly.

If you were allowed to do it then people would stop their mileage from working and then sell their cars with "low mileage".

If you want to do a trip in their car, then grow up and ask them and if they say no, accept it.

Your screwed.

Older cars it would have been relatively easy but modern cars a lot harder. Also, if you disconnect the mileage counter you will probably also be disconnecting the speedometer which means you leave yourself open to the good old speeding tickets. How would you explain that one away.
Are you insured for the vehicle? How would you explain away it being seized if you got stopped by the bizys if you got caught speeding.

Ask permission and do things properly, then if you screw up you have a minimal effect on others.

You don't disconnect it, but it can be reset, if you pay the right people the right amount of money!!

No i have the same motor either use Royal Purple 10w30 or Mobile 1 0w30 advanced fuel, or really any full synthetic.
jet8@ymail.com

First of all, it needs to be 5W30.
I prefer Castrol personally, but all brands should be sufficient.

Remember 5W30, not any other viscosity.
Matthew

As long as your engine has no leaks with regular motor oil, I would switch over to synthetic(Royal Purple is my preferred brand) and also use Z-Max every 6 months to increase and maintain peak performance and fuel economy....

It will not allow us to view the product without your user name and password. Another way is to copy all of the specs about what you are asking about and editing your question to show us what you are wanting to buy.

Example: What I am wanting to buy is a 2010 Shelby Cobra. You can find the specs at *website yadda', yadda'*.

That's what I would do. It helps clearify your question.

check your gas and battery.
Ace of Clubs

Unfortunately, there are several reasons your car may not be starting. Making sure there is fuel and the battery has a good charge is about all the typical consumer can do. Past that, a repair facility will be required. Good luck to you.
Moose

check your fuel and spark!
low69z

it sounds like its flooded, hold gas pedal to floor and crank it it should start to spudder and then start. dont pump the gas pedal just hold it to the floor until it starts YES fuel injected cars can flood. master tech 28 yrs.

What are the reasons of a car not starting?

I have an 06 Volkswagen Beetle. I tried turning it on this morning and it wouldn't start. I didn't leave my lights on, my radio still works, my windows work, and the lights will turn on, and I have plenty of gas in my car. What's wrong? Why won't my car start?

There could literally be 100's of reasons why...

You need to be more specific. Is it a gasoline or diesel engine? Does it crank? If so, can you smell raw fuel? Does it almost catch/start or does it just crank?
Bandit-05

if it acts like the battery is dead but it's not. It's usually the starter.
RIP SRV

Check your fuses, battery terminal connections, starter motor may have issues, Starter solenoid may be faulty, Check the wire connections at the ignition coils, make sure your gas cap is on and tight, check all vacuum lines. Ignition switch may be faulty, Fuel pump issues, Clogged fuel filter, Starter motor may be faulty, Insufficient fuel reaching the fuel injectors, Air filter clogged.
A good inspection should find the issue. Make sure all your electrical connections are clean, tight and not frayed.
YME

It could still be your battery. It could have dropped below 12 volts which is about the minimum of what your car needs to start. The battery has enough power to run the radio, windows and lights because those don't use up that much power. But, in order to start the car, you need quite a bit. If you turn the key and nothing happens, like the engine won't try to turn on and you don't hear anything coming from under the hood, it's most likely your battery. If you turn the key and your hear clicking noises every time you turn the key, it could be your starter. When a starter stops working, you will hear it click when you turn the key because it still gets power but it can't 'turn' which is what starts the engine. Hope this helps.
