whats better? 2004 suburu wrx or 2008 legacy gt? or 2008 volkswagen r32?

Question 1
whats better? 2004 suburu wrx or 2008 legacy gt? or 2008 volkswagen r32?...  which would u get and why?

Answers
1)   the wrx is what i would go with. has a large fan base, plenty of aftermarket parts for modding, and has AWD which is perfect for snow and all terrain. it can swap parts with the sti and has a turbo so the wrx can be made very fast as well. - Supraman

2)   I hate to sound biased, but have you ever heard of anyone collecting Japanese cars? (except the Datsun Z cars)
They just do not hold up, because they are not intended to last 10 years even.
VWs are built to last forever.
There is no reason why you can't keep buying third party parts for them, and just keep on driving them.
They are the most practical cars ever made.
I would definitely go VW, and I have for the last 40 years. - Motorhead

3)   Turboe'd EJ engines (WRX) don't make it 100k a lot of the time without a lot of work. It shears oil like mad. Legacy GT is ok. VW is known for having a million and a half electrical problems right after the warranty expires. Be more specific, what do you want in a car? You can't judge these three cars because they're being sold to different groups of people. I'd pick the legacy gt but I wouldn't be really happy with that 2.5. I don't like 4 bangers in full-size cars lol. - Fribble

4)   I'm partial too because I have a 2010 STI but I also have a VW and think that it's pretty good too. The R32 sounds really nice, like an Audi TT but it also packs no punch and would have to be heavily modified to keep up with the Subarus.

If interior is what you're after go with the VW, if driving and performance and uniqueness count for anything go Subaru. Well actually if you have to think about it go with VW! xP - mpftmead1014

5)   The VW R32s are awesome vehicles with the right tune aka chip cold air intake and exhaust pushing close to 300hp would be no problem. VW decided to stop making the R32s after the Mk5 it would be a real collector's item considering it's already a pretty rare car. And to the above comment by mpftmead... the audi TTs pack no punch? The audi Mk2 TTS 2.0Tsi is pushing 260hp and 300hp if you get a chip (very modest tune 18psI) and the TT RS 2.5TSI is pushing aound 350 and 460 Hp if you chip it at a modest tune and even the base line TT 2.0TSI is at 200hp and easily pushed upto 250hp if you ran a chip at a very modest tune ie no exhaust or cold air int, and the 3.2 V6 shares the same engine as the R32. So please do some research before you talk - The yiff

6)   simple...... R32 ! and if you didnt know then now you know - mr VR6

Question 2
Does anyone know why they changed the look of the 2010 VW Beetle?...  I just think the new one looks silly and you shouldn't change a classic.

Answers
1)   It's getting really "Dated". Sales are dropping off too. - Derrick S

2)   cuz they havent changed the design since the 90's and it was getting old - the real batman

3)   The 2010 is the same as it has been since 1999.
But the 2012 beetle has much more rear headroom. - Motorhead

4)   Because men weren't buying it. The new design was intended to be more masculine. - Hank Scorpio

5)   They have changed the style of the Beetle to make it a little more appealing to men. But still make it look "cute" for women. - DizzleLizzle

6)   The New Beetle debuted in 1998 and hasn't really changed at all since. VW has released a few special editions over the years but after 12 years of almost no change it is time. VW designers want to make the car more appealing to men (but the only way to do that is to bring back the design from the 1950s). Last I read the new generation Beetle will hit American shores sometime in 2012. - Nick

Question 5
Why doesn't my Beetle idle?...  I have a '76 VW Beetle which I've just resotored (body and engine). It uses a Solex 34 Pict 3 Carburettor.
My problem is that the engine will not idle. As soon as the choke starts to open then the engine cuts out. I've tried another carburettor (also a 34 Pict 3 and also an old second hand one) and does the same thing.
What I've already done:
* cleaned out the jets (twice)
* replaced all the gaskets (carburettor and manifold - there are no air leaks)
* reset the valve clearance
* reset the timing
* set the Volume and Bypass jets as per the manual
This problem has really got me stumped. Any suggestions and/or advice will really be appreciated.

Answers
1)   Clean the idle control valve or clean the carburetter, usually buying some carb cleaner from a car parts store. And im assuming you know how to clean the idle control valve? - i eat monkeys

2)   i know its probably a long shot, but have you adjusted the idle control screw? if it's not far enough out, then when your choke kicks out the butterfly will fall back closed and she'll sputter out. - Ron

3)   Odd that your 76 beetle has a carb because it should be fuel injected, since 1975.

But if you have an engine with a carb and intake for a carb, you still do not necessarily have the right wiring harness for the engine. Because if you did, you would have a wire that goes from the hot side of the coil, to the idle solenoid on the carburetor.
There is a metal cylinder screwed into the side of the carb, about 1.5 x 2 inches, with an electrical connection on the far end. The other end goes into the carb. If you turn on the ignition, this idle solenoid should click, and if you pull the wire off it should click again.
If it does not, then either the wire is not hot, or the solenoid is burned out.
If you have trouble replacing it, you can just plug off the opening, but then it will run on after the ignition is turned off, a little. - Motorhead

4)   Does that engine have EGR valve - if so - check it for stuck open. I think it has a PCV valve of some kind - that might be stuck open also. - Thomas E
